LS Exhaust Question

Damn....  I wonder how many laps dude has at that track.  He sure knew where he wanted to be and where he was in which gear, every single corner of that track.  Sounded awesome!!!
Mike Skeen was a factory Vette driver in the Speed World Challenge. Raced against him back in the day when he was in compacts. Dude’s good.

the ls has a different firing order than the old school small blocks and bgblocks. i do like the sound of them with an x pipe and flowmasters though. ever since i was a teen my favorite mufflers on cars has been flowmaster chamber mufflers. they sounded amazing on the old 5.0 mustangs back in the day i thought as well.

Yup, does not get much better then a 5.0 with 2 chamber Flowmasters. Especially if it has a cam in it. I don't know why, maybe the firing order? But it sounds better then any other old school small block.

Tone comes from the thickness of the muffler casing and weight of exhaust tip. Heavy=deep light=higher alterating pitch

in this day of expensive materials mufflers are getting lighter. Im doing a full header back on an f150 luxury prerunner with a stroked ls right now. The same magnaflow mufflers i’ve always use are half their old weight. Im sick of it. Time to build my own american made stainless mufflers

The Flowmaster used to be pretty heavy duty, have they changed???

Did they sell out too???

I’ve always preferred magnaflow and bullet. Bullet is no longer. Magnaflow is doing what they can to produce a product within the u.s. in california of all places. What i will do is analyze one tomorrow and see what its material makeup is. They state stainless but its probably not 304 anymore. Probably a cheaper material. The casing is definitely thinner as i can easily bend it with my finger.

is there interest in a quality muffler anymore? I will design and produce one. But they will push 200$ they wont be 100-150$

I happen to know your shop boy is in need of a header back muffler for a TRX 450!

$2-300 is better than $400+
