Im one of those old school idiots who thinks that a set of headers & flow masters on a Gen1 Cheby is about the best sounding thing there is.  I got to thinking the other day.............. I wonder what a newer/newish LS motor would sound like with headers & flow masters.  say in a Gen 1 or Gen 2 Camaro?  Im guessing @onanysunday has done a few of them.  Hell he probably has one or two in the shop.  LOL.

Do they sound as good?

Do they sound horrible?

Get over it Bob, 1998 is gone, move on?

I have Magnaflow on my Jeep.  Sounds good, but have always hated Flowmaster sound, so take it for what its worth...

I was fond of the Supertrap sound, liked being able to add / remove baffles as well.

How about neighborhater or angry houswife mufflers? They would be a good conversation piece at least.

I have the Supertrap exhaust on the new to me Sand car with an LS. I like the sound of it but also looking forward playing around with the baffles as @BaBaBouy said. It’s just plain fun tinkering with stuff like that.

I’ve been thinking about my exhaust for my 67 Mustang street car build. It has a 600 hp 408 Windsor with a huge solid roller cam. I’ve always loved the sound of single chamber Flowmasters but I’m going with Herferth aluminum race mufflers they sound amazing. They have a bunch of sound clips videos on YouTube.

Just got my mufflers amazing workmanship now I’m thinking getting a set for my sand car build.

LS's generally don't have the same cam Overlap as older "muscle cars" so no matter what muffler they tend to sound too European to me . Even the Magnaflow's like old school; turbo mufflers  still don't have that deep sound  of an old school Small Block or Big Block, but they still sound great

The only mufflers I cannot stand are Borla's IMO they make an LS sound like a BMW  -- but everyone has a different take on the "pitch" they like

Hot Head headers ! Dave does a great job and will build what ever you want and they sound great!!!!

Here is a 1969 Bronco I did . Custom built Frame , rotissiere build   . Crate LS3 525HP , 4L60 , Atlas . DynaTrac ProRock 60s King coil overs . Full TIG SS 2.5 inch exhaust 2 into 1 with single Flowmaster

volume up

the ls has a different firing order than the old school small blocks and bgblocks. i do like the sound of them with an x pipe and flowmasters though. ever since i was a teen my favorite mufflers on cars has been flowmaster chamber mufflers. they sounded amazing on the old 5.0 mustangs back in the day i thought as well.

Damn....  I wonder how many laps dude has at that track.  He sure knew where he wanted to be and where he was in which gear, every single corner of that track.  Sounded awesome!!!

Listen to this thing....  awesome sound.
