"Long Range" toys

.308, .300 win mag, 6.5 Credmore are all good choices.

I'm looking at .338 Lapua mag or .300 win mag.  Just want a little more push than my M1A (7.62/.308).
.338 Lapua was Gibbs round of choice...

just remember you will spend atleast 1500 for a scope to start out with .

Howa makes a good gun too worth taking a look at imo .308 is good but a 300 win mag is nice.Reloading will lower cost but still may be in buck range for 300mag i think its around there for a good load depending on bullets used.

An ar platform can be done cheap and have good results as well easy 400-600 yard rifle with heavier bullets

I started off with a Howa 1500 chambered in 6.5 CM in a rubberized Hogue stock for about $500.  It was easily capable of hitting out to 1000yds.  After I decided I enjoyed the long range experience I upgraded it with a MDT chassis.  The scope is a Vortex Strike Eagle 5x25.  I've also added an area 419 brake.
