Life's greatest mysteries..

Another one of lifes mysteries..........I hired a 51 yr old man 3 mos a go. NO EXPERIENCE. Good dude. Has a girlfriend in OK City, OK. He decided to move there. Went to a competitor of mine, they're huge, Johnson Equipment. Told them he has 3 mos experience in the Door business. They Hired him at $22.00hr and gave him his own truck!!! He's a Lead Man. They just set him up to kill himself. This job is extremely dangerous and very hard to learn. Takes at least 2 years to have ANY clue what you're doing. Has the Trade World come down to this? We'll take anyone who breathes? The guy who I hired with him, Enrique shows me his selfie next to his truck and says, "He's getting paid $22.00hr with his own truck".............................My reply, You ready to make $22.00hr and drive your own truck? (Which I wouldn't do)..........He answered correctly "NO" AMAZING!!!  Peace

Unfortunately the trades need people really bad!  Not many want to work hard or show up for work everyday.  You have to almost take anyone and train them and take your chances.  Sometimes it works out and others you are spending more time and money babysiting rater than any production and you have to cut them loose.  Us old timers in the trade with 20-30 years experience have to run work and really train these people.  The trades are nothing like they were 20 years ago.

In your mind is there a difference between merging left onto the freeway from an on-Ramp VS merging left into the #3, or #2 of #1 lanes?

It seems in San Diego, they are completely different things.

When merging onto the freeway, you just wait until there is no more on ramp and push in regardless of whether its safe or not.

When merging over one lane left, you have to put on your blinker, speed up or slow down to match the speed of that lane and wait for a safe opening to move over.

This PSA brought to you by the a.ss.ho.le in the old Dodge truck that is stunned by the lack of regards for other folks safety and reasonable actions.

Im on a ladder, holding the shop vac with my arm down, cleaning the gutters.

What I didn't know:

Slider was open!

Dogs were below, staring at me.

There was NO filter in the shop vac.

HUGE dust cloud below me blowing INTO the house and all over the dogs!

Here I am, doing my manly chores and the wife was NOT happy!!!

Who opens the slider when I'm cleaning the gutters? It was open before I started? Hmm, missed that one!

Heard about that one for a while!

I never understood this one. Typically the on ramp speed is 10 MPH less than the speed of traffic you wish to merge into ? And god forbid if a car lets another car get in front of them !  No offense California peeps, but my experience on your freeways has never been a good one.

Flew into Long Beach one morning at 4:00am. Yes, we were delayed. Slept on the concrete at their front door so the employee had to step over me. They showed up at 6:00am and I got my car immediately. Jumped on the 405 and traffic was going 90mph. I wasn't even awake yet and I had to go "RACE MODE" immediately. Wasn't prepared for that. Really? 6:00am and your Ballz to the Wall? Talk about instant adrenaline rush. Peace
