Lemon law advice AZ

All of them have problems.... Toyotas are always good, grand daughter just bought a wiz bang Kia Sportage...damn it's nice. CVT trannys suck. We had to replace our subaru cvt at 90k.... F that...should have bought a lexus.......
I agree with lexus/toyota maybe look for a lightly used lexus for her. She doesnt drive alot. Dont want 12mpg but mid to high 20s mpg would Nice

Honda HRV (small, but not tiny) or CRV.
They are high 20s low 30s NEW.

Love Toyota but always overpriced still...

Seems Subaru is at the top of the reliability rankings these days (based on first google results anyways). I've never owned any SUV/Crossover so I certainly can't help with any real world experience.

guy at work bought his daughter a new hyundai because she was going to college in colorado. about 15k lost the tranny. sat at a dealership for 3 months because they can't get a trans from overseas. give her a rental to drive. finally the trans comes in and they install it. she picks it up, it had sat outside for 3 months and was filthy. she gets about 20 miles down the road, starts smoking and stops moving. calls a tow truck, take it back, and said she took the drain plug out. her dad was like, she can't even put oil in it that's why we bought her a new one. they found a plug on the cross member someone didn't install right or it fell out and dropped on there. finally got a new trans, had it shipped to okc, drove it to a dealership and dumped it lol.

The reality of it is all new cars are pretty much garbage. They all have their own issues, I'm a used car tech at a dealer and I see them all. You have to just pick one with the features you like and run with it.
Regarding your MIL's Santa Fe, yes the dry dual clutch transmissions do have some issues. Why it sat on the dealers lot for so long...I have no idea that might be a dealer thing. However, for 2024 the Tucson has a wet clutch inside the trans and has zero failures from my perspective. You can get into an SEL model for high 20s to low 30s, they are very nice vehicles with 10/100 warranty with the caveat that if you need courtesy transportation you're at the mercy of the dealer for a loaner. I hardly ever do too much to them other than tires and brakes.
I personally don't care for Toyota although they have a loyal following, Honda SUVs still use a CVT, Nissan is near bankruptcy and Mazda...eh I don't care for the complicated radio screen with the volume knob in the center console. I won't ever do GM again, the Ford SUVs I get my hands on are hit or miss depending on whether or not a teenager has driven it, and Stellantis...don't even want one as a rental.
So to come full circle with what I see as a tech who works on them all 5 days a week, from Audi to Maserati and everything in between, none of them are any better than the others. Pick you poison.

Thanks. He car is actually a tuscon not a santa fe (i was wrong in orig post damn korean cars all look the same to me 🤣) She likes the car; she just no longer wants to deal with her local hyundai service dept. they literally told her to just keep driving it until it breaks completely because they didn’t have time to deal with it.
I’m with you on the new cars are garbage thing.

Late teens to current ES350 or RX350 are still V6/regular automatic and practically bomb proof.

I’ve been looking for similar to just kill miles.
Consider a gs350 also. The FWD ES is a pain in the ais to do rear cylinder sparkplugs on. The GS being rear wheel drive is much easier and/or cheaper if you have a mechanic work on your vehicles.

Are they just as Buick-y? Rolling couch has its own special appeal…

Man, I’m getting old. What happened to the kid who happily rolled around with solid mounts and Koni 30 series with 700lb springs? :ROFLMAO:

You need alh tdi
Lol. The efficiency was good…

The comfort, power and everything else sucked. Worst was all the soft touch shit Ze Germans insist on putting everywhere melting and sticking to you/clothing.

It depends on the generation. 10-current, it seems everyone wants to make a sports sedan. Even the Japanese buick avalon got firmer. The GS is firmer than the ES but I wouldn't ever describe it as sportscar like.

Hard to beat a new Subaru price wise.
Especially for an AWD. My daughter just hit 100k miles on her Crosstrek we bought it new in 2017. Changed the brake pads and serpentine belt last week, other than oil changes that is the full spectrum of maintenance done to it (other than a 1.5" lift and some all terrains after purchase)

You need tunes and injectors. Go from 90 hp 190torque to 200hp 450 torque. Plenty of fun. Still average 42mpg combined

Did the VNT17 upgrade and injectors. Was fun, but ultimately they’re 20 years old now.

Service the CVT...if it has one....
