LA Dodgers

Adios Victor González
Yeah, they needed to clear roster space for Shohei and Joe Kelly.  Joe Kelly wears number 17 as does Ohtani.  With the $$ he's making, I'm guessing Kelly is due for a nice gift to give up the number.  Hopefully it's a full Mariachi outfit . .

Nothing funnier than watching LA in CHOKETOBER.  Sounds like you are still bitter about getting bounced by the Madres, then swept by AZ,  Then LA fans whine that SD is buying a team, LMAO!!!!  Ohtani contract is a 20 year deal, 2mill a yr for first 10 yrs, then 68 MIL a yr for another 10yrs!  Not sure how that will work out

DODGERS PAYROLL IN 2040= 84,000,000

FREEMAN 50YRS OLD    5,000,000

BETTS  47 YRS OLD        11,000,000

OHTANI  45 YRS OLD     68,000,000
You don't think Guggenheim folks have factored that in before they made the deal?  They are pretty smart folks who have put a division winning team on the field each year over the last decade (except 2021 when they won 106 games).  chit, last year was supposed to be an off year and they were still good.  They'll make billions off of this deal . . .

im not bitter they got beat it happens. i just find it very funny how others try to trash talk when their team does not have a record to back up the talk. no one ever whined all other fan been saying that about LA forever. now we could say that about the failed money splurge in SD last year and the years anaheim did it. the whole choke thing cracks me up too, your team cant even make it there but here they are saying another team "chokes". its a game anyone can win at any time any day.

sounds like you are pretty bitter though.

Well, after removing the likes of Clayton Kershaw ($20M), Julio Urías ($14.5M), J.D. Martinez ($10M), David Peralta ($8M), Blake Treinen ($8M), Daniel Hudson ($6.5M) from last year's payroll—as well as the portion of Lance Lynn's salary they absorbed ($6.5M) and more than $30 million in dead/retained money for Trevor Bauer and Noah Syndergaard—the Dodgers entered this past weekend with an estimated payroll for their projected 26-man roster at approximately $156 million.
In other words, they had about $100 million to play with, and that's using a conservative estimate of what they're willing to spend.
With Ohtani now in tow, it's likely they'll be willing to enter 2024 with a payroll north of $300 million.

Now let's watch them fill in the roster . . .

Nah, Im not bitter.  Banter between FANs ( Fanatics ) is what sports is all about, makes it more fun.   No Question in my mind that LA is a far superior franchise, we all know that.  Had the Padres or any other team made this deal, We/They would get laughed at.   LA is smart, they will make this work, I am sure of it.  That being said, the CBA will be making some new rules about deferred payments, although nothing new, we have never seen $680 MiL deferred for some serious payroll and luxury tax incentives.  LA found a Loophole and drove a semi truck right through it !

Dodgers are taking a pretty big gamble on his pitching arm recovering from a second Tommy John procedure. Just sayin😎

Several other team reportedly offered him the same $$$ so it wouldn't have just been the Dodgers willing to gamble .  .  .
