LA City Layoffs - Doing Great

And they are hiding most of the big deficit....the graft and corruption in LA rivals Mexico. So glad my time here is almost done. The next generations are screwed.
 
State employees were facing a pay freeze for 2 years. What they ended up doing with our unit was giving us the raise then taking it back, but we're not pitching in to medical retirement accounts now and we get an additional 3.5 hours personal time per month. So it's a net 4% raise and 3.5 hours PT.
Medical retirement accounts are not getting any new funds for 2 years, so they're kicking the can down the road again..

That's the way I understand it anyway...
 
614 of 45,000 people sucks. I hope my brother is not one of them.

Reality of today is be prepared, if I got cut it would just mean early retirement, I'm at the level of Fuck You.. Of course 5-20 years ago, that's not the case.

My plan as well...

Except my son wants to go to CalTech. Bastard pulled a 4.7 last year, so it's looking like I stand a decent chance of postponing retirement. LOL

Bastard better be as good at finding grants as he is at making grades, LOL

Harvey Mudd isn't much cheaper, LOL.

Other considerations are Purdue, AF Academy (he'll get paid, but we seem to continually be on the brink of warfare), or possibly a UC (not a fan of how they've been acting lately).

You should look into setting him up with an internship at my company if it's something he would be interested in one day.
