I effed up and didn’t have my Goosebox latch locked.  Hit a hump in the road and it popped off and smashed my generator into my tailgate.  Tailgate is done for it and bed floor is dented.  
 

I usually check everything twice before leaving but missed this one and it cost me. 
 

yeah yeah I need to add safety chains, been riding dirty and now it’s time to add them. 

anyone have a gen4 Ram tailgate?  2018 Ram 3500

I almost did that. Drove all the way from SD to glamis without latching the hitch. Must have been divine intervention. Or pure dumb luck.

Two quotes from my dad when he would see me do stupid stuff.... "God protects Fools and Children"..... and "Stupid hurts".  My friends always said....man your dad doesn't beat around the bush does he?   I would say...Nope I'm youngest of 11....he's wore out.

Oh man...talk about a Cops Episode.......

Actually we did pretty good for Irish Catholics.....bunch of college degrees, couple drinkers....no felons... Mom's gonna be 100 on the 27th of this month.....5 oclock beer keeps her going...still lives alone and drives.... 

 
FNA !. Good for you and yours ! And happy 100 to your mom !. Not sure about the cops thing though. Sounds like a pretty normal family !

Sounds like a buddy of mine, Catholic, 14 brothers and sisters which included farmers, Lineman, Priest, cattle ranchers, pro bull rider, and probably a felon or two!  :biggrin:

 
I did the same thing but the truck was a 2011 Ford, so the tail gate showed no sign of damage 

Unhooked the trailer to do something,  hit the retrack all button, and thought i seen it latch and drove home, i was hearing a squeaky sound in the turns and thought nothing of it

Came to a Stop sign and everyone was Effin around, turned up the banks to 6, and tires where in a little water and was going to make a show of it at the stop sign, when i punched in, all a felt was a BANG, and looked back and the hitch was against the tailgate,  

Best way to fix the bed,   Put a Rubber mat over it LOL,  and keep on trucking  

 
Tailgate is just a normal dent and EVERONE knows what you did, but at least the 5ther did not hit the side fenders!
