JD'S Memes

Contrary to popular belief, RAM trucks did not actually derive their name from the parent company, Dodge.
Internal documents (just unveiled by Ryan Brutt the world famous, walking encyclopaedia of cool old cars @theautoarchaeologist) from August 1980 show the name was created from a humorous acronym: "Rednecks And Mopar."
The founders, having a good laugh, decided to playfully acknowledge their loyal customer base, the "Rednecks," and their penchant for Mopar engines and big tough Dodge Trucks.
Not wanting to appeal to just one echelon of customer they adopted the Ram’s head emblem and spread the story of the fact it was chosen to symbolize strength, durability, and ruggedness.
It worked and has become a firm favourite of a wide range of truck enthusiasts. But now you know the truth.
