Its Thanksgiving 2022!!! What ya doing

Modern traditions are like pop music. People are told what music to follow and what clothes to wear. To me making a turkey on the 24th is like wearing skinny jeans. No originality in thoughts or execution of living. Society in the USA says you eat turkey today and people follow right along.

Seems less special when you meet up with family on the pop music day.
Almost 400 years of American tradition is no skinny jeans.  Love you, Wop.  But you're way F-ing off.

Lemme guess, Christmas is a corporate schtick?

Deep fried a turkey at home with the kids. I’ve been getting my azz kicked by pneumonia last week, takin it easy. If i close my eyes and make vroom vroom noises its almost like a desert turkey day

I'm wearing skinny jeans because it hurts Mike's feelings.

Been going to the desert for thanksgiving my whole life. So for 46 years it’s been my tradition that I passed on to my son. This year we passed on the turkey and had steak! It was a nice change. Few more days in the dunes and then headed home.

Thats cool info. Happy Black Fryday YALL. Peace

Wednesday - Took my 88 year old Mother-In-Law who lives at the old folks home 3 miles away to BRU (nice restaurant) for dinner last night with the wife and 16 year old.

Thursday - Out to see my Step-Dad and Mom with the wife and 16 year old for traditional Thanksgiving Dinner. They're not real mobile and have 2 'unwell' dogs (cancer, broken leg) so they can't leave home.

Friday - Big family get-together in H.B. (probably 18 of us)... with my Dad, Step-Mom, my Sister, Brother-In-Law and her 4 kids,.. I think all 4 of my kids and their significant others too.

Saturday - Laguna Hills, 12-1, 2022 CIF Southern Section Football Playoff vs. 9-4 Golden Valley, I think in Santa Clarita. My daughter is a cheerleader. All 3 of my girls cheered for Laguna Hills and they've never gone this far and I've been going to watch the girls cheer for the last 15 years (my oldest is 30). It's been a really exciting run. One of our Glamis friends son is a top defensive player. He's a Jr. like my daughter.

Sunday - Watching my niece (10?) ballet Nut Cracker in the day, Azuza I think, then going with Dad, Wife and Step-Mom to the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano to watch Chest Fever - The Band Revival.

After 6 days in G, will be great to see family. Not thrilled about the amount of driving we'll be doing so plan to let the wife (or my permitted 16 year old) drive at least 1/2 the time.

Very Thankful/Blessed!

Ha,.. then she probably knows my Daughter Kate, she's little a 'flyer'!.. they also headed up to watch or just sending her on the bus from here and staying home. (some parents are)?.. I get it if your kid is a cheerleader, but for football, if my son was playing.. I'd be there in a minute.

Im surprised to see you post this. Makes me think im totally wrong. I remember in elementary school half of us dressed as pilgrims. Other half as indians. We pretended to be friends.

Turns out we slaughtered the Indians and gave them blankets filled with disease that their immune systems never saw before.

Somewhat off topic but i was just working in your guys hood helping with home security. I saw the post by ABC setting up cameras. There is a major robbery team working this area. My Uncle got hit about 3 months ago and they were home at the time!!! Nigel road, about 1 mile south of crown valley.

And Indians slaughtered each other before we came and had they anything more than Stone Age tech, they would have butchered us at first sight.

Or you can focus on both sides coming together in peace, fable or not, and appreciate the day.

I can take either side and run with it. I spend every tday helping friends and family get ready the week before. Luckily my family doesnt give me a horses head because no joke once they start cooking on the 24th i split. Already saw everyone on a closer level than eating together. Im not too sure the whole deal brings out the best in people. Its a lot of stress. People coming to your house? Im usually worn out by the 24th and im not even hosting crap. My level of stress as a handyman must be lower than the person hosting the party.

made ribs and a 3-cheese bacon mac n cheese. learned a-lot and what to do/not to do next time but it all tasted great
