I’m curious how much some of you insure your higher end sand cars for? I’m taking delivery of my new car in a few weeks so I’m working on finalizing insurance. So far State Farm is the only one that will insure it and the premium is pretty expensive. I’m thinking to insure it for 15%-20% less than total price I’m paying. My logic is that it won’t be worth what I’m paying the minute I take delivery. And even in a crash it likely can be repaired for less than the cost of a new one? I think my biggest risk of a full loss is a bad fire or theft. Am I thinking about this correctly? What do others insure their cars for compared to replacement cost? Anyone other than State Farm that will insure them? Foremost, Progressive, Safeco, and Hagerty all said no.

Statefarm, what I paid for it, it's not cheap. But I sleep well at night

I will be calling this company in the morning. Never heard of them. Anyone else???

I've had a policy with State Farm since 2006 for all of my rails / SXS's and always been great to work with. I suspended my account when I sold my SU last year and while my new Extreme is being built, huge price difference and recently talked with them to make sure that wasn't an issue, they said it was not a problem and as long as I'm replacing one for the other, we're good....I am not sure what the premium will be just yet but my thought is get it insured then shop it, SF doesn't not penalize if cancelled.

Interesting. Please let us know what you find and if they have any value limitations like many of the others.

State Farm $200k
Make sure to provide lots of pics showing blower, Albins, etc.

I had my extreme insured with state farm and the just doubled my premium last month making it a pretty ridiculous amount per month to insure and I had it insured for around 10-15% less than the actual value. So if you have state farm be ready for a big increase if your policy is set to renew soon as mine went up 103%. Been searching for other places to insure it and havent had any luck finding anyone that will yet

I have my 2 Funcos thru State Farm. The Cost is high almost a 1k a month for both cars. But 250K for my GTU and 150K for the G52. I will only use it if it is a total loss or stolen. Rather eat that 1K than 250K+ to replace the car.

I’m leaning toward just insuring for the full value. The premium difference isn’t enough to take the risk

State Farm is the only one I can find that will cover to the full value. Nobody else even close. Foremost will do liability and max value of $50k on comprehension. Safeco will do liability only. Everyone else has been a hard no for one reason or another. And keep in mind, I have a clean driving record and very high credit score so that’s not a factor.

Ya I have found pretty much the same thing, and Foremost has restrictions as far as motor size and power adders that they wouldnt even give me the $50k policy unless i lied about those things. I have a clean record and well and a commercial driver. All the insurance companies, especially the ones in Cali are just trying to bleed everyone dry by continuing to raise rates.

I had Allstate for 15+ years on my Wicked and received notice that policy will not be renewed as they no longer offer this coverage in Ca. Never even filed a claim.
On the search now for a new provider.

Honestly, you can likely point the finger at all of the totaled Side by Sides that get claims. There's probably thousands per year, vs. single or maybe double digit Sand Car claims.

When people treat 40 - 60k offroad toys as "disposable" and expect the insurance company to replace the entire vehicle after poor choices in whatever environment they are in, Coverage prices are going to go up.

All of the sign and drive SXS people are ruining coverage for everyone else.
Little crash and they file a claim.
Even if their fault.
I rolled my first rail, $2200 to fix.
I paid cash.
My fault.

I think your point is valid for sure. The part I can't figure out though is SxS insurance is pretty easy to get and relatively cheap comparatively.
Go figure!
