We are half ass throwing around the idea of buying a house outside of CA and hopefully making the move. I would like to buy a place on a golf course. I haven't traveled anywhere in the good ol' USA, hopefully that will change soon. But I would want a retirement friendly state. The plan is to keep a place in San Diego too.

Has anyone visited a cool areas that had reasonable priced housing on a golf course? I am open to hear the places you have visited/seen and were nice areas. Prices would need to be reasonable, whatever that means now-a-days.

Is Phoenix Arizona on your radar? We have a handful of golf course communities here

Before you think of doing so I would like to point out that golf courses require a chit ton of maintenance in order to make them look beautiful for the golfers who may start playing rounds at the crack of dawn.  This means their greens and fairways are being mowed while you are likely sleeping . . .

I just went to Windsor CO this last summer for my daughters softball tournament.  My friends live in the Pelican Lakes area.  I played some amazing courses there all within one membership.  We played Pelican Lakes and Rain Dance (Longest course in US).  They also have a signature 9 hole course.  The membership was very reasonable.

plus there are tons of courses in the surrounding area.  Clean and new.

not a chance! No offence to Phoenix, but it's not for me. We are getting tired of San Diego because its getting too big. Phoenix is packed!! Althought we have been looking at Havasu. But that would be a winter house.

I wouldn't live actually on the course, but golf course communities are nice.  I go entire weekends and only drive my golf cart.  Just because you live on the course doesn't mean you have access to the course, in most cases that is a no.  With being in a Golf cart community, it truly feels like you live on vacation all of the time.

For myself, when I want to go golfing (about once a week), I load up my cooler, throw everything into the golf cart and drive to the course, I haven't taken my truck to our golf course in years, love the simplicity.  Golf carts lower the blood pressure for sure, HAHA

Gotta love Canyon Lake. I remember, I picked up something from your house and that was the first time I had seen that community. I was like wholly fu*k who knew that place was there. LOL

Keep the idea in your mind but consider housing prices are the most unaffordable they have ever been in history. Interest rates are sky high and potentially getting higher, and there is still a ton of buyers competition from the fomo crowd. I am waiting, somewhat impatiently to buy.

My "dreams" of leaving California are being as far the F away from people as possible.  Golf Course?!   Dude.  Why?

If you like heat, (summer) about 20 miles east of Yuma on I-8 is Welton. Golf course homes, small community and 20 miles to everything you might need.

My buddy retired and moved to a golf course community in Arkansas. If you're interested i'll find out where. Has eight golf courses. He drives a golf cart everyday. Can't wait to go visit him. EIGHT courses. Peace

I just finished my house build on the golf course in Arizona. It’s very peaceful, other than the 530 am wake up call from mowing the grass every other day. The 6 am golfer talking in-front of your windows how shitty his swing was to his buddy. All in all I would not change it for a thing. I have no HOA and a 1,300 sq ft garage, what more can a man ask for. My guess is the house would appraise for right around $425,000 in today’s market.
