In Search of : Whipple 4.5 for LS7

Bruce and Chris sold the business to Bruce's 2 sons and another guy.
They are going strong.
Punisher is having a motor built there and I am starting a build this week.
I am a CBM Dealer, that is where we get all of our superchargers, my order was around June for Them, unfortunately the last Whipple was sold to @sandroosten about 3 weeks ago, we try to keep them in stock and for the last 3 years we had 4.0 and 4.5 always in stock,

I do have one intake left for a 4.0 and know of someone that has a ls3 4.0 intake,
My understanding is you can still get the 4.0 head unit, just not the intakes, so this might be the last chance for someone to piece together a 4.0.

I checked with Alper. He thinks he has a few coming so fingers crossed there. I did not check with CBM. I was under the impression CBM guys retired and basically closed down. No?
NO... CBM is still in business

Bump - still searching for a 4.5 Whipple for an LS7. I'm chasing down a lead on one possibility for a used, rebuildable one. I've been offered a few others but asking prices are way above what Whipple sells them for which I'm not complaining about. Supply and demand dynamics alive and well. Price and they are chrome where I need black ae barriers.
Let me know what you got! Otherwise it looks like I'm headed for twin turbo.

Facebook marketplace 440cu w/whipple.
I think he is a member here also.

Yes, he’s on the Board. I’ve been in contact with him. Looks like a great engine but my engine is already built and I just need the blower, not the whole engine package.

I found a used, but reportedly in good condition Whipple 4.5 from a board member. Bought it and it should be on it's way to Whipple soon. I'll have them go completely through it and make it as like new as possible. Thanks GD.com for connecting us!

So I bought the used Whipple 4.5 mentioned previously. Sent it to Whipple and they came back and said basically only the housing was useable. They said an excessive amount of sand went through it and the rotors came in contact with each other. The good news is, the housing was the main item I needed as this is what Whipple seems unable to get produced. Also, Whipple being willing to work with the used housing. They are rebuilding it to like new specs and even having the housing powder coated again. The bad news is I bought the world's most expensive blower housing as it was reported to be in much better condition and Whipple is only crediting me $400 for the housing. So the math works out that I'm paying an extra $2800 over the cost of a new blower assembly because Whipple can't produce the housing and because I paid too much for the used one 🤑🤑.

Yes it sucks but the reality is I had few options given the circumstances I was in. Gary at C&G did everything he could try and help me out. At the end of the day I just didn't want to go twin turbo so I ponied up the extra dough. And no, I'm not going to post the board member I bough it from. I'm never going to know what he knew or didn't know about the condition. It's buyer beware and I've got my big boys pants on and moving on. Honestly if I knew I was going to pay $2800 for just a useable housing I probably would have just done it anyway under the circumstances.

There are others out there waiting on Whipple blowers and I do hope Whipple gets things sorted out with their supplier.

Good to know... I'm in the market for a whipple as well. used would be preferable.

What are you putting the whipple in/on? Any pics?

Used Whipples, if you can find them, are going for a steep premium as most sellers know you can’t get new ones right now.

Mine is going on a 427 LS7 being built by C&G. Engine is going in a new Funco GTU that is just about to start build process.

This seems like a good deal if you're comfortable buying out of state.

That's a decent deal for sure. If memory serves the intake is different on LS3 vs LS7 so I don't think the blower package is interchangeable. But for someone that wants an LS3 it seems like a pretty good price.
