I used these block guards from Halferland. If i remember, they are roughly $450. Not as good as a closed deck but i think would have prevented what you experienced.

Did you tune this yourself?
I did not, it was tuned by Dardan. This issue was caused my be as I was greedy and asked to have the car tuned at 14PSI. What I think killed the block was that I had a loose fitting at the wastegate for a couple of trips the car was hitting 17.6lbs (Boost Cut) and finally had enough. Going to be ordering a closed deck block soon and will go back up to 14lbs.

Those look great and I am sure they would have!

Have you heard of any issues with the cylinder head valve train at higher HP levels? I have not but I do see that P2R sells different upgrades for the heads.

I haven't and I still use stock springs and retainers in my heads. I rarely hit the rev limiter at 6500 rpm. I am usually in the 5500 or less range. I am sure it would allow the engine to rpm higher but that is not something I want or need. I also don't think I am floating valves either and if I am I can't tell. I did rebuild the heads and had them decked and new seals including lapping the valves.

If I was at the sand drags and banging the rev limiter I would probably upgrade. I rarely go up Oldsmobile and haven't been to the sand drags in 15 years.

Before getting the block welded for close deck, look into Darden sleeves. Probably 3x the cost but much better product.

I am going to run with the below. Claims to be good for up to 1000 HP.

LS engines are for lazy old men who can't drive and don't like going fast. They love their loud exhaust and show off in camp how they can set off car alarms. Built turbo Honda is for real men with balls of steel and have the need for speed. Keep up you little V8 fan boys...

:ROFLMAO:

Small update: Ended up ordering a closed deck block from P2R. Reason being is that P2R sends them one of their NOS blocks to have the cylinder supports installed. Many people in the Honda game swear by them and I have not read anything bad about them. Thought about a set of block guards but I like the idea of the Cylinder Support setup instead.
