Camera's well they only get you a picture of your stuff walking out the door. If your 30 minutes away you still have to call 911 and explain to them what is going on and your going to beat the cops home anyway And if your at home a sleep are you really going to wake up from the little "ding"? I know I won't. 

Now walk around my house at night and if your sneaky enough the dogs won't do anything, but if you even jiggle the side gate or if the hinges squeak, well your going to get the full blown dog alert plan. 

As far as during the day I have enough retired or work from home neighbors, including me.  that the movement around the house will prevent someone from attempting something and will just move down the street a little further and find something that is a little less of a risk.

The thing to remember is they come during the day for your stuff, but they come at night for you.

Dogs..  :classic_laugh:  I had two labs that wouldn't get up if I was screaming bloody murder, but if my neighbor three houses down opened a cheese wrapper they would go nuts.

Most peoples dogs are dumb and bark at anything these days... so not really any sort of decent "alert" system. 

Yep. 140lb Bull Mastiff and the most dangerous thing is if a burglar trips over him.

Dogs are like cameras, you get the one that serves its intended purpose.  uppy:

Dogs alert the family and neighbors of intruders.

Security Cameras capture the intrusion, maybe you have it tied into an alert - what are their response times in your area?

Guns if your home when it occurs, only keep that intruder from coming back. :crip:

Prevention is the best item to spend money on, cameras just capture it happening. In today's court system, what's that really worth?

I need a system, we have homeless / druggies wondering into the neighborhood and scoping out back yards, garages and etc......on the rare occasion.

More often teenagers are sneaking in / out of the house in the wee hours, i need motion sensors, door and window alarms and most of all night vision cameras.

Joking / Not Joking :headslap:  damn teens.

Ring and SimpliSafe seem to be two most popular systems, I'm not sure I want a paid monthly type monitored service because my goals are capturing video / pictures and instatnt notifications to my phone.

:guns:  I'll either be grabbing a gun or the belt / Chancla depending on who it is. :wife:

Also hear allot about Ring and how people hack into the cloud storage and watch other people vids...eff that. :tll:  already stocks me enough :watchporn:

Kinda old school but dvr with motion alerts. Only issue is moth or burglar. 

I've got 811 on speed dial.
