Ugh.. that's where my Mom lives and was violently robbed by 3 thugs a couple of years ago.. I'll pass on Rialto. Worse than Laguna Hills...

I'm ready to pull the trigger on a Ring or similar system.

I hated my Ring system except for the doorbell. I prefer a hard wired Swann system. I’ve had both and nothing compares.

Did you have the powered Ring cameras or battery powered? I have Ring and all my cameras are plug in and I’m very happy with the picture quality and features you get with the plug in cams. Plus I’ve had very good experiences with Rings customer service.

For those who don’t know Ring offers 120v powered cameras, but are still wireless as far as needing to be connected to the system.

Wyze, 3 Rotties, and a shot gun by the bed for my girlfriend to run while I grab something with a drum mag from the safe.

My engagement might be a bit delayed while I choose which drum fed unit to use.  The KS12 drum only holds 20, but it's 12ga stuffed with buck shot.  The AR drum is 60, the AK drum holds 75.  See my conundrum?..

Ring 120v wired is the best camera system ever made in my opinion. I have them all over the house and the office. Just call me on FaceTime and I’ll demo it for u.

I get the heebie jeebies being up in that LA (everything north of San Diego) area.  The traffic, population, congestion, overall ghettoness.

Then again, I hate being outside of East County.

I use the Vivint system and am super happy with it. Camera's are super clear. Stay away from the ADT setup. Pure garbage.

The best security system is the 2nd A.

Alarms go off, but that does not stop someone. Some systems call the police, but that does not stop someone until the police arrive. Cameras record & photograph but does not stop anyone. In 95% of the cases the person is going to be wearing a hoody & mask which is common now a days. Cameras alone rarely ID the person anymore.

Your best protection is to learn your 2nd Amendment rights, and get educated on how to properly use a weapon, for the purpose of stopping someone.

And lastly. You can advertise with a sign that you have an alarm, or cameras, but you never advertise or tell people what you have or where you keep your 2nd Amendment rights.

My Rings were solar and sucked, yes direct power, but still don't like them, they film in 30 second to 2 minute bursts. My Swann system is going 24/7, not activated by motion. Better system IMO.

PS. We have a good 'alarm' dog, but nothing big, he's 22 lbs. If I had property I'd have a few huge Rottweilers.

Dogs alert the family and neighbors of intruders.

Security Cameras capture the intrusion, maybe you have it tied into an alert - what are their response times in your area?

Guns if your home when it occurs, only keep that intruder from coming back. :crip:

Prevention is the best item to spend money on, cameras just capture it happening. In today's court system, what's that really worth?

Most peoples dogs are dumb and bark at anything these days... so not really any sort of decent "alert" system.

Well placed cameras tied to your cell phone is much faster than dogs. The real benefit to dogs is their brain and ability to bark and communicate. Cameras are starting to include AI but its slow and cant be trusted.

A good example of camera versus dog is an intruder sneaking around the house. If the dog sees the intruder it will bark in a different tone. You know instantly there is a problem. Where the camera will alert your phone like normal. Just like when a car drives by. Wyze is starting to work in AI but again you cant really trust it. The camera cant tell the different between someone jogging by and an intruder coming to kill your family. The dog senses it and gives different alerts.

The benefit to cameras is that youre in control. Where you put the cameras and how you set up the alert features and sensitivity gives you power and control. You cant really look at your dog and say "hey...can you please bark extra loud and different when some nut job is creeping around....but when amazon comes its cool no need to worry...unless he looks like a nut job....got it??"
