Home network information...

I've got my tech dude coming by the Dream Home today. I told him I want TOP of the Line WIFI / Home system. He does this work for Hotels. We'll see what he recommends. Peace

Modem yes

if you are techy you can bypass mode the router

this is all you need, it’s a game changer. Sure you can buy more expensive ones but these are flawless

Amazon eero mesh WiFi system – router replacement for whole-home coverage (3-pack) https://a.co/d/9EuWVEN
Thanks will be looking into this. Will also be calling Spectrum and see if I can get rid of their router if I buy this.

So the router is part of your modem on the new ones. At least mine.

there is an option to turn off router and only use the mesh

This is what I was quoted for the Dream Home / Barn. Overkill? Going to bring Internet into the house from Frontier. Peace

that seems like a lot given that the house is not 18,000 ft^2 and 5 stories....  a whole mess of the ones Im looking @ seem to 2 or 3 for most houses.

when I started this last year this is the list of contenders I came up with.  I have a 2000 SQ-FT house which is 2 story (1000 ft/floor).  the modem is on the top floor in the den on the front of the house (the room right next to the fireplace on the front of the house).  unfortunately, we spend all of our time on the other end of the house on the 1st floor.....  we have DSL into the house, which is pretty fast/acceptable if you measure it right @ the modem. (& Yes, the antennae does work and is how we get our TV.  3 whole channels if the wind is blowing the right direction.  LOL).

I think any of these will solve our problem, but I got lazy and have not pulled the trigger yet.

Got my Eero last week and set it up- FAIL. Tried several times, got my daughter involved and we still couldn't get it working. Hit up YouTube University and there's no trouble shooting videos. Could be my Spectrum modem and router but we just had Spectrum here last year and to check our stuff and only issue they found was a rat chewed up the cable.

I unplug the router from the modem, plug the Eero into the modem, light blinks white, then blue, phone app says found an Eero device, synching, then "we've detected a problem" screen.

Annoying AF. Gave up, Eero is just sitting in the table now.

Ubiquity is Pro-Sumer stuff. I’ve got it running 8 Unifi cameras(6-G4 Bullets,1-AI360,and G4 doorbell. I’ve got the USG Pro,Cloud Key+ Gen2,and a 24 port 250w switch…Just started to hook everything up,as I spent the last week running and crimping the Cat6 POE cable.

@Dunerking, what were the other systems in the running?

Have you used this before?

Is this a "mesh for dummies" kind of setup or do I have to get a pro to help?

I have the orbi also I just put in 4 units and it works perfectly on my 5 acres yard with the house at one side and two garages at the other sides and can stream tv or videos with no problem and have spectrum and 1 gig service with only a 10% loss thru the orbi towers  around the yard

Sorry for the slow reply, this was the only system I was considering. It’s definitely not your plu in a go type of system…but once everything has been adopted it should be a very smooth running system. There are videos on YouTube showing how to configure your system and the adjustments that can me made. Honestly it’s well past my pay grade.but my friend that recommended the system loves this stuff. So here I am. I was able to purchase everything off of OfferUpand maybe have $1200 in all of my equipment…that’s including my Middle Atlantic sliding and rotating racks.
