We have a 2 story house with the modem/router/wifi upstairs in the den/office where our printer is.  Our TV/dvd/Netflix box is downstairs on the other side of the house.  I have ethernet over power going from the upatairs router down to the receiver with another router/wifi.

The last year or so, it's become less reliable and every 2 weeks or so the stuff downstairs seems to stop working and requires reboot to make it function again.

Looking for options on replacing our hardware with new stuff and the term "mesh system" keeps popping up in my research.  Has anyone installed and used these in a multi story place?  How does the main box communicate with the other nodes around the house?

Are there other options to consider?

My home is nearly 5k sqft.  I have the 3 eero system and I get consistent 400-600mps d/l speeds throughout the house and yard surrounding the house within ~30ft

thanks @TheLatinLover.

anyone else have any real world experience with mesh Wifi systems?

anyone know specifically how the nodes talk with the main router?

My "cable box" has a router built into it.  Do I turn that off or leave it on & just plug the mesh system into the router on the cable box.

That's what Comcast/Xfinity does to try and persuade you to keep web service thru them.  I told them to bounce and bought and set up my eero system.

All of our house is Ubiquity/Unifi…I’m going to add 2 AP pros just to make sure everything is good all around the 3 acres.

In the last year has anyone bought anything newer??

it's been 5 years since I bought this - and had two of them together and ended up just using the one as it works just fine...I have an extra one if you want to try and borrow it to see if it's your hardware requiring the reboots...be sure you're updating firmware on your existing unit - sometimes that actually helps.

I have 7 smart TVs , 4 cell phones , 3 IPads. The lil ones are always streaming on their IPads. I also have Spectrum.

If I buy Euro mesh would still keep the router and modem?

I was using the Google mesh or bridge. They are 3 white hockey puck looking things and that was working great. Made my house a lil bigger and not sure if I should re use these or buy something better.

Which eero mesh did you get? Spectrum wifi at my house sucks and we have 'dead' zones in the living room and a couple other spots.

Modem yes

if you are techy you can bypass mode the router

this is all you need, it’s a game changer. Sure you can buy more expensive ones but these are flawless

Same. I'll have Fallon set it up. Finally got Ring security camera and had her do all that too, I just mounted them. Even had her set up the app on my phone. Parenting is easy.
