There used to be a bunch threads on here about programming radios, different channels, etc.

I have two of the Baofeng UV-5R, and recently got Rugged version they call the RH5R-V2.

The Rugged has a bunch of channels programmed in it from the list on Rugged's site. Here.

How would I go about getting the same channels into my Baofeng units?

I have the baofeng uv5r and they are not programmed with chirp. I programmed a few common channels into them manually but keep a pic on my phone with a channel bank list so I can manually program a frequency if needed.

I did my baofengers with chirp...you can put a crap ton of channels on them...or if you have a master to clone off of that works too.

You need to download the CHIRP Software, and Purchase Baofeng Programming Cable

I used CHIRP daily-20210110 with Win 10Pro, and programmed several radios.  The version that they have now is chirp-next-20230216.

PL2303 Windows Soft 8  That is from Sergii Varych, I am the founder of Mirkit Radio

Would I be able to save what is on the Rugged unit and put it in the Baofeng units?

Yes, if you are going to trouble might as well add a whole bunch of channels

You’re doing something wrong, chirp is what you use. There is an option to select different radio types, check this. I’m not at a computer but it’s in the header menu.

I don’t know if the new hand helds that rugged sells are baofengs still. I couldn’t find them on Amazon.

They aren't.  They got hit by the FCC for selling radios too easily reprogrammed because they're not some fly-by-night Chinese company that'll just change names to avoid fines.

Shitty because this is what we all wanted (granted, it can cause problems if you step on some local logistics company's freq, but in the dunes, not incredibly likely) and it forces you to said fly-by-night Chinese company if you're looking for this. As much as I like being forced to listen to EVERYONE talk on "Checkers" or whatever, having a specific frequency <cough> illegally <cough cough> programmed in is nice.

No I’m not I like option of entering frequency as is. I also radio for other uses where I need frequency I add.

works for me and I can add any racecradio frequency in 5 seconds.

I didn’t use chirp software on mine. No need to do so unless you need to have a name displayed.
Ok, that is fine that works for you, but to say that the CHIRP software does not work is wrong then.  Correct!
