On a h pattern dog box can u pre load the shifter for the next shift and shift clutch less like u can on a sequential ?

If it's a dog box, you should be able to.

Doesn't mean you should. It's still better to use the clutch.

The issue is that the dogs can round the edges, when this happens, it does not hold a gear,

I have missed a shift (grind it till you find it) and it does not take much to roll a dog,
Shift Aggressive, I use the clutch on mine,
