Gen 4 Update

Update -

Well, I got the finished car out for the Funco Regatta and one additional weekend after. I put 124 miles on it Saturday and another 86 miles on the following Saturday.

The good: I can't believe how amazing the 3" Kings are. I almost didn't do that upgrade, and I am so glad that I did. Everything is exactly the way I wanted it. From seating position to function, it all just worked for me. I love the look and the feel. The Funco Shifter setup with turn brake is awesome. Going to the switch pros, awesome, adding the P3 system with presets, another awesome feature. The car feels like a new ride with all the cool bells and whistles.

The bad: I noticed the additional weight from all the added structural tubing and the transmission regearing. It felt a bit lazy to me. I do have HP Tuners, so I cracked into the computer and messed with the tune a bit. Flipping the intake around reduced the IAT significantly, allowing some changes to be made. Boom, a bit more power felt. It's still not enough, unfortunately.

The fix: Well, again, I should have listened to multiple people on this topic and sold the car, then purchased a newer car with a bigger engine. I did not, so here I am. This summer, the car is getting Twin Turbos! I'm not looking to go crazy with 1250-1500 HP, I am thinking some small hair dryers that will get me to 750 on pump gas. That will solve the lazy feeling, as well as add some resale value if I do decide to sell it. The Fortin Sequential should be fine at that power range, so operation TT is a go!

The TT plans - My son is a certified welder and wants to make custom headers, so he will be my Turbo header connection. This is what we are thinking - 321 stainless schedule 10 into billet collectors with machined Wastegate port all V-band. Runner length will be equal at about 15"-18" depending on modeling and placement. Going with VSRacing Gen 3 dual ceramic ball bearing 62/62 mirrored turbos (should be good for up to 1000hp). 50mm wastegates and a 60mm BOV. Due to the fab needed for the intercooler, I decided to go with the 102mm TB and Holly modular intake using a Tick Racing intercooler with an air-to-water heat exchanger. New pistons to bring the compression ratio down a bit and a Turbo cam. 80lb Deka Injectors should be the last piece. Luckily, my fuel system is already updated to handle 1000hp FI on e85, so pump gas will be fine.

Wish me luck... I feel like it's going to be another busy summer!
