Ended up going out for the day to play in the desert.  We staged at Jawbone and worked are way to a cool abandon gold mine Nadeau-Magnola.   Guy had quite a set up including a house.  He lived to be 99 years old.

We stopped to check out Robbers Roost and had some food at the Indian  Brewery.

Covered 109 miles today.  It was a perfect test to make sure my clutch was working after doing some maintenance.  Changed out the bearing and replaced a few pucks that had some wear.

My X3 is so much fun to drive and the suspension continues to impress.  Can not say enough good things about the shock work Tom Morris does.

Sorry to disappoint LOTD - no SXS fell apart, broke, or caught fire.   Lol!

Just under 2000 miles on my car since October.

Looks like a fun ride. Cool to see a XP900 out running with the pack of new vehicles.
My friend with the 900 also has a 4 seat Turbo S.  For whatever reason he won’t sell his 900.  His wife has a 900 as well.

He did finally put some 29” tires on It.   He was running the stock size tires forever.  We would laugh at him every time he would call out “big bump” on the radio.  It was only big for his tiny tires.   Lol!

I also like that everything is still preserved and not vandalized, spray painted etc. So many cool historic abandoned things nowadays get destroyed or tagged, and it just ruins it.

But we live in a society where history is of no importance and it starts from our woke leadership. Just sad!
There was an old truck on the hill that some people tried to roll it down.  I guess that spot is where people meet to get supplies to the people hiking  the Pacific Northwest Trail.

I think the mine owner was in that house through the early 2000s.  He does in 2013.

I miss Jawbone and desert riding!  Since selling Wildcat I've also missed annual meet ups there also.  Jonzing for SXS but guess easy dirtbike riding is gonna have to do.  My boys said no more SXS cause they dont want to wear helmets in something that has a cage.  Still on fence with my Speed order lol.  Glad you had fun SS.

Did you have to send your shocks back in to get them retuned for the dirt?

Of course you didn't break down. You drove 109 mi in one day. That's like 13 mph, if you deduct time for lunch.

Just messin! Looks like a great time! It wasn't too warm, was it? Seems like the perfect time for a trip like that! I'm jealous!

Cool ride. Thanks for posting.
I need to find places like that to ride.

Weather was perfect.  In the low 80s with just enough breeze to keep the dust to a minimum.

This area is close enough to make day trips or quick weekend camping trips.  It is less than 2 hour drive from my house.

You can take your buggy to Jawbone.  The chatter bumps would suck heading into Randsburg in the buggy.

If your kids had helmets with a pumper set up they might feel different.

Looks like a blast! @Sand Shark Would enjoy hooking up with you guys for one of this day trips! We’re in Agua Dulce so about 1.5 hour drive from the house..Thanks for posting!

2000 miles?  That's, what, 20 complete front end frame replacements right?

Tell them to suck it up.

Also, squishy melon smacking steel tubing, what wins without a helmet?

Late Spring in Jawbone is perfect, way too crowded on the winter weekends now.  Love the riding there.

Looks like a great time. We also have a 900 and a Turbo S. The 900 does very well in the dirt. If I decide to keep it I will start looking for some bigger tires.

Spring time and Fall are great times to go.  Not alot of people out there which makes it nice.  There were some people camping in Dove Springs.  Did not see anyone camping in Jawbone.
