The wife wants a big screen in the trailer now. I have a 2006 ww fifth wheel. I still have the original 19” tv on the swivel pedestal next to the door. What I would like to do is make a mount to hang a 50” flat screen from the overhead storage shelf. This way the tv is in the middle of the trailer and can be seen from both couches. Anyone here done this?

This was my set up when I had my 5th wheel. Looks like we had different models because my TV was rear of the cabinets. This also was only a 42”. I used 1x4 on the inside and outside of the cabinet to give the mount something to bolt to with a bigger foot print than the week cabinet wood4DC823F3-4D6E-41B6-9FC5-018C4D5A22D8.png. TV could swivel out to almost the middle of the trailer.

That’s funny, when I googled installing a flat screen in a ww your picture showed up!

What about mounting it to the bottom of the rear bunk and have it swing down if clearance isn't an issue? Those cabinets aren't mounted to the walls very well, just stapled on there.

I can’t mount it on the bottom of the bed. It will have major clearance problem for my Jeep. As for the cabinets, I’m not mounting it to the cabinet. There is an overhead storage where the kitchen meets the open parking of the trailer. It is very sturdy. I’ve planned out how I’m gonna do it but figured I would see if anyone here has done it before and maybe had pics of how they did it.

My trailer is loaded so I had to google a pic. Mine isn’t the billet addition and I don’t have the captains chairs I have two couches. You can see on the right, the standard 19” tv on a swivel next to the door. If you look above the tv, the overhead storage that goes from one side of trailer to the other, is what I want to mount the tv off of.

I know a couple of people who have their TVs mounted 90* from where people sit on the couch. It takes me about 3 minutes to get a horrendous crick in my neck and I stop watching. I suppose it works for some people, after all, that's where their TV is still mounted.

Ya the design is horrible! That’s why I want to mount it in the center of the trailer so you can clearly see the tv from both couches. The plan is to remove the tv and lay it on the bed in transit.

I am not sure what brand, but there is a toy hauler mfg that mounted it to the ceiling. I will see if I can find some pictures.

I really don’t want to mount to the ceiling in fear of creating a water leak!

That is what i had planned to do, was make it bolt in from top to bottom, then even thought about a harbor freight winch  to lower up and down on drawer tracks from home depot

I’m thinking I can plate the top and bottom with through bolts. Then weld tabs that would hold the tv mount. Once built, have it all powder coated black. I think it will come out looking OEM. I’ve measured and a 50” tv will be a couple inches short of the ceiling and the bottom of the tv will be just high enough to walk under without hitting your head. I will get the wall track to hide the extension cord and RCA cables. Then where the tv used to be will now be a docking station for phones. I will build a shelf to mount the power strip for the phones and iPad to plug in. I will use the cigarette lighter/ power strip adapter so I don’t have to run the generator to charge them. Seems like a good idea. I will post pics of the work when it’s done.

A lot of post on Facebook in Weekend Warrior owners group. Most are private so you would need to join.

When I had my WW (06 LE37'), I tried to find the perfect spot for a larger flat screen, there isn't one.  Someone's neck is going to get tweeked.  I saw someone that did a projector TV and the screen would come down almost in the kitchen, worked good.  The Pic isn't as nice during the day but it was super clean and every seat in the trailer had a good view.

Use an Undercabinet mount, but place it on the top-side of that overhang. Off set the mount somehow so that when you pivot the screen coming vertical, it also dips the TV downward, this should help you clear the roof and the bottom of TV dips much lower. Should be able to make that set up work, the TV will be secure and stored up high, without hanging from the ceiling. Weight of TV and the mount will essentially be sitting flat on that shelf. Easy to extend that shelf as well just for the TV mount if more space is needed. Put some Sound systems up there as well, etc...whole entertainment center now.

It could work.

Ya I was going to measure to see if an under cabinet mount would work on top. Need to make sure I could set the tv low enough on the mount to clear the ceiling lights and still be high enough to walk under. I will keep everyone posted. Thanks
