Chicken Dan and I are taking the girls on a long-awaited road trip to check out the dunes up North, mid-September. The interwebs say we should expect epic weather during our stay at Sand Hills Resort.
We're a group that enjoys the journey as much as the destination. Any stops along the 15 we should see? Any day trips to see touristy shit once there? Diners, dives, choke and pukes? We like eating at places we don't normally get to when traveling. I have a need to sample every chicken fried steak breakfast in the country, so there's that😁.

The dunes are steep and transitions are sketchy, lots of outlying trails to explore on edge of dunes.

A little further up the road is Yellowstone and tons of offroad trails to explore in those mountains.

This is in Midvale Utah on the way.

Shoshone caves, craters of the moon, the Teton dam flood site, and the St Anthony civil defense caves.

Valley of Fire north of Vegas for fireworks. A day trip to Jackson Hole should include at least one ride on the Alpine Slide on the south side of town. One ride for our crew turned into everyone getting day passes. Somewhere nearby is said to be the largest pile of empty Keystone cans, but that could be more myth than fact.

I would suggest trying to stay at Idaho Dunes RV vs Sand Hills. Much easier access to the dunes. Bababouy's buddy opened a new brewery up there, so you may consider checking it out. Jackson Hole / Grand Tetons is a nice day trip. If you do go to Jackson take the long way on Hwy 26 through Swan Valley to Alpine. It's very scenic and worth going a little out of the way. From Alpine going North to Jackson you are running through a nice canyon along the Snake river. Have a great trip.

Are you going through Salt Lake?

Right next door there is a very nice RV park. Shady and grassy. And mostly pull through spots! 👍🏼

It's an easy drive from there to St Anthony's.

If you go into Yellowstone for the day, the falls are pretty epic. Also the lake there is Very impressive. 30 miles long or some shit like that. Pretty sure there Was a restaurant right on the shore.

How can you turn down Grand Teton's? 😁

What are you guys taking for toys for the dunes? We took the knee boards, and drug em behind the quads, along the shore of Lake Elgin.

Not sure what route you taking, but a side trip to Zion is always fun.

Duck Creek is probably way outa your way, but that's a Really nice place to check out. 👍🏼

Say hi to Courtney while you're up there. 👍🏼

Obvious places are Zion and Bryce. If you have a day in Zion I would recommend hiking the narrows up to big springs. It is very crowded at the start but gets better fast. Most people turn back after a little bit.

  1. Just past St George - Toquerville Falls is an oasis in the desert that is best found by truck, SUV, or ATV. The road is rough, but well worth the trip. The views are spectacular on the drive, and the waterfalls are great to look at and play in. The area is clean and great for families.
  2. Just past Cedar City - https://kanarrafalls.com/ 15 dollars to park for an easy hike up a creek with some water falls in it. You will get wet and super fun.
  3. Before you get to Fillmore look for Meadow Hot Springs, they are just off the 15. On private land but you can go to them. - https://www.bing.com/videos/rivervi...921A78649B3A38EF6499921A78649B3A3&FORM=VAMGZC
  4. Phil will help you for everything when you get there.

When we would go to Idaho dunes, we would purposely dune every other day (Dunes are too small just to dune everyday)

so, dune and next day do Yellowstone
dune and next day do white water rafting on the snake south of Jackson hole (Epic)
dune and the next day go exploring the ice caves (military and another one too)
dune and the next day go swimming in a nearby creek probably 5 miles from the dunes, brought lawn chairs and jumped a small fence spent hours there
