FIRE 3 miles from my house!

GLAMIS WEATHER
SOO glad its getting contained. That still scares me every year.... and I live in the city.....

As I was getting on the freeway this morning at 5am... there was one on the onramp to the same freeway going the other direction. Super small in total, but wow we're the flames high. Where it was..... homeless folks for aure... :(

Oh nuts.... I read John's post incorrectly..... he said o% contained....

Glad you're all good John. We have a horse that is boarded in La Cresta. We were trying to get up there with a trailer to help the barn that he is boarded at and could not get through the traffic due to the road closure. Luckily, it ended up in the end that they did not need to evac. I need to figure out the process (if there is one) for next time. It really sucked just sitting there with an empty trailer and going nowhere.

yeah there are only 2 paved roads to this entire area which is probably 10 miles x 10 miles of pure houses. there is the back road that goes to elsinore peak but is really rough and only 1.5 lanes wide so might be impassable with a trailer and other traffic and typically they close the two gates from dusk to dawn but i would have suspected the gastes were left open last night

it was a guy on a tractor doing some clean up

it was a massive operation, 20 trucks stayed for 2 days in the area

no structures were lost

who pays for this? what if a house was destroyed, what if someone died because of the accident

i have work on tractors and hit a fit rocks with light brush too but never started a fire, always concerned about this

made it home safely, lots of action up here but fire is out. CHP was checking addresses before they would let me in my neighborhood

Glad they were letting you back in. Around here, there’s a chance they won’t, so you definitely hesitate evacuating.

No metal blades, and must have a 10lb extinguisher or hose within 10’ of operations at all times is the rule here. I assume violation of this opens you up to more liability.

I was hoping someone would bring this up.

I would think 1-4 of those bad boys would be mandatory for any brush clearing with heavy machinery, anytime past April in So Cal. Hell, I'd mandate it 12 months of the year considering the dry Decembers and January's we have seen.
