Been a little quiet around here.

1. Do I need to clock my cv's before installing?

2. What grease do you recommend?

Yes, the inside one needs to be 3 splines counter clockwise from the outer.

Grease is as follows,  1 part swepco 101,1 part BelRay, 2 parts marine lithium, .75 part anti seize, .15 clear rtv, and a dash of sand for quick break in. After precisely 17.32 minutes of run time, clean and repack, omitting the sand, as they are now worn in.

Crap, I typed out a bunch and then realized this is a chit talking thread.  LOL

Keep it going!!!!!!!!

Stick around... might ask a single shear question later. Maybe ask for a recommendation on shock tuners.
I cut my shock shims from old soup can tops, the bottoms are usually too thick.....

Campbell's cans, from the 1937 to 1952 era seem to be the best...

Stick with me for more tips and tricks.......

I guess I'm nieve, I assumed a thread in the tech section was serious.

Sorry...  carry on.

I just spray a bunch of wd40 in my at the beginning of each season. Seams to work ok. When they start to click I turn up my headsets.

Clocking??? You guys disassemble yours?? Sounds like too much work to me

I do not have CV's on my new ride.  Don't miss fooking with them in the least.  On a slightly related note, I still look like the tin man after using anti-seize on my bolts.

It's easier to just sell the car before it's time to do maintenance. Let somebody else deal with all that.  :classic_ninja:

And btw, single shear saves a lot of weight. Heck I'm going to go back and cut all the double shear off my car.

FTW..!!

Someone needs to make some axles with these bad boys.

Its already happened,  a few guys were running them without incident, while everyone else had major issues. The problem was with the plunging axle, they bind up and destroyed transmissions and hubs....
