Car Brand Loyalty

My wifes E350 is a BAD DUDE! Love that car. Smooth and powerful. It just sits too low to the ground. Hit my head every time I get in it. Peace

for Yah yah's looked up some I'd be interested in for her.

Genesis G70

Lexus IS 350 F Sport

Ford Explorer ST

Camaro 3LT RS Package

Luckily I have time for this...I'm lucky cause she loves her car and may not want a new one. :dunno:

Got check one out.   I was surprised how much I liked it.
Check back after warranty expires.

Brand loyalty?  I have none.  I find a segment I want (truck, sports car, whatever), find my upper limit on price, then test drive whatever each offers in that segment for the price and make a decision.  Tie breaker is dealer experience.

Lately, Ford has been winning for us.  I'm sure that will change in the future.

Think the wife is in Mercedes number 5, she usually keeps them 10-12 years. I have 2 chevy trucks for play and a ford truck for work, all comes down to what puts a smile on my face.

No loyalty currently

currently we have

bmw

vw

2 Chevy

Jeep

ford

This got me thinking and I thought I would list what I've owned and what my wife has owned by brand.

Me: Ford and Chevy

Wife: Toyota, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Chevy, Mercedes Benz, Jeep, Ford, BMW, Dodge, Acura, Cadillac, Pontiac, Lincoln, and maybe a couple others I can't remember.

One of us has a problem!!

With all the fun, speed and excitement I've had in my Nissan Armada and my 2 Dodge Rams (one of them deceased), how can I ever say anything negative about these 2 brands?  I'm with them all the way!!

Even TONIGHT, I was off-roading in my 2021 Dodge Ram 2500, and I wasn't being careful with it.

Having been in the industry for going on 30 yrs now... Top   Lexus... bottom.... BMW..... everyone else is in the middle...  a Jeep is a Jeep is a Jeep....enough said.  Benz is nice, Audi is just an extra way to throw away cash... Ford/dodge/chevy have been chasing the Japanese since the 80s.... Subaru's actually do hold up in accidents... Nothing Beats Tonnage .... what is true in the ocean is true on land... tonnage ALWAYS wins.

Are we married to the same woman?

In 1972 I bought my first Prickfor, the service / support was unsurpassed and the quality on par with all the major competitors.

There's engineering, and there's materials.  More of one means you need less of the other.

These days, the Japanese have fallen behind Ford/Dodge/Chevy unless you're only considering reliability, but it's not like cars won't make it to 150k+miles these days (and not many these days keep a car they bought new that long).  It's easy to make something reliable when you're still making the same chit you introduced in 2006.  Hell, Tacomas still have 6 speed transmissions and use a 3.5L V6 to make 278hp, and it really hasn't changed much since 2005.  Nissan juuuuust updated the Frontier for the first time since 2005, and it was behind the competition when it came out.  Only place the Japanese the Americans lead is sport compacts, but no one buys these cars anymore.

I've been contemplating a Chevy Cruze or some other shitbox with a poor reputation as a daily commuter...  Mainly because since it's a shitbox, I can push shopping carts out of spots with the bumper and not care, and everyone thinks they're shitboxes so they're practically free.

Thinking back on what I have had:

1967 Mustang Fastback

1992 Mustang LX 5.0

2000 GMC Sierra 1500 Z71

2004.5 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD Duramax

2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD Duramax (Current)

2024 GMC Sierra 2500 HD AT4 6.6 Gas (On Order)

Yeah, trucks...I'm a GM guy!

At least you weren't foolish enough to buy it's predecessor, the buttfor. That one was really just one big piece of crap.

By the numbers:

7 Nissans

6 Fords

1 BMW

1 VW

Was a Nissan guy.  Never would I consider one in any way, shape or form today however.  French ruined that company.

I remember that car, you pulled up to me at the park and offered me Free Candy and to Pet yore Puppy.
