Im trying to build a firearm.  I found an action in another state (MT) I bought it from them.  so I have to send it from him (ffl) to me (local ffl) and there are some "fee's" involved in this.  I get it, Im not happy, but I get it.  Im in the communist state of Kalipornia, so OK..........  so yesterday I go down there to pay my fee's & go on my mandatory 10 day unconstitutional vacation.  dude asks me for my "safety card".  My what?????  "safety card, the state firearm safety card".  I said I dont have one.  so, 15 minutes & 30 questions later, I turn in my test & he says "you aced it".  Wow........... so I guess in my 56 years on this earth I have not turned into a complete dumbsheet.  So, I goto pay so I can get on the road.

the total is $325.  For what????  know what I got to take home???  NOTHING!!!!!  Oh wait, I got a laminated card that said Im not a moron.... 

$38 DROS "fee"

$25 for the privilege of taking the 30 question IQ test.

$150 Tax on the action.  How the F does the state get to tax me on something that was not purchased in this state???  if MT does not want the money then CA should not get it.  WTF?

$100 transfer fee (I get this, the gun store has to pay for his FFL, no problem). 

$14 Tax on all of the above items.  REALLY.............. how the F do they get to tax me again on all of these taxes????  WTF????

On the bright side though............. I got to fondle my action (LOL) & this thing is going to be freaken AWESOME!!!!! 

 
I know I can surf in the morning....ski for lunch and then dune in the evening BUT............................. I can't wait to GTFO !!!! 

Wait till they gut prop 13.....Game Over !  Newscum has sunk the ship.... Thats a fact!.......but at least the President of China will enjoy a clean San Francisco! Thats what really matters!

Overturning Prop 13 will be the final nail in the coffin for sure, none of us can afford that.

This entire country double and triple taxes us all day long, the Glamis pass is another form of taxation...............hate it all.

 
Glad  i got all my stuff back when obama was in office and i was the crazy psycho ranting about all this coming. 

 
Yea the Prop13 thing is a biggie.  lots of states dont have this kind of protection.  Idaho is one of them (we own property there).  inflation & growth are a problem in every state for folks in fixed incomes.  the biggest of which is being able to afford a roof over your head.  the growth of old folks being homeless due to this is pretty shocking.  And all of us Kalipornians moving into other states & dragging our CA problems with us.......... its making the other states less & less appealing as well.  "dont Kalipornia my _________".

Someone should have given you the heads up on the safety card.

Tax is garbage and BS.  That's a relatively newer state law.  If it was a private party, you could've asked him to drop price to almost nothing.  Like the DMV scam.  That transfer fee is pretty damn high.  I Think Gussler's is still around $60.  maybe less.  Using a retail shop for a transfer is the worst.  They want you to buy THEIR guns.

Biggest lesson here is to ask around before getting into a gun.  We all could've helped or at least eased the sticker shock.

Funny that asking ID to vote is racist and burdens people of color and the poor.  But all these fees and taxes and ID's to purchase a firearm is not.

Recently moved to NV and you will giggle when you go to the store and see the 'ammo sale' with a pile of .223 in boxes the size of a 2 car garage and all the other goodies (AR's) that AREN'T EVEN behind the counter.  It is a staggering difference after feeling like a felon because I wanted a 50 round box of range ammo in 9mm when I lived in KAlifornia.

I probably could have saved a few bucks, but they are a couple of miles from my house & I dont mind supporting local small businesses (as long as they treat you right).  for sure he wanted me to buy his stuff.  but Ive done my research & have the opinion from someone I trust, so there is no slowing this train down.  I REALLY love going into a shop & being able to fondle the merchandise.  there is nothing like being able to hold a carburetor,  seeing the quality of welds on a set of headers, or looking through an optic.

yeah, i tried that before, and got kicked out of the club for fondling the merchandise, bouncer didn't like it, I had no idea it was his old lady on the pole
