Camping in buttercup/Gordons

There are lots of agents... it just depends on the time. There may only be one or two line agents on the fence at anyone time, but there are others on ATV's and buggies, and still more on the interstate. As with everything, its all dependent on the conditions. Right now, at night, there are more than a dozen BP agents in the dunes on OHV's, as it is very active. Its so active right now CHP and CalTran put up signs to warn motorists to look out for pedestrians on the highway.
That’s good to know, I’ll feel better when I get assigned to the area.

Cameras maybe but no agents to work the area.
There are lots of agents out there: on quads, SxS's, Buggies, and trucks.  Also Helicopter flying over a couple of times a day.  These are no BLM rangers that want to write tickets and checking passes, Border Agents are their securing our border.  I have had Agents come into our camp trying to find owners for lost dogs, one guy every morning on a Tday trip would come into our camp and chat, we would give him a coffee to go.

Depends when that Tday trip was, things are a little different from a couple years ago.

I have been camping there during Thanksgiving Week for more than 25 years, haven't missed one.  Used to camp there before the fence was there and ride in the dunes in Mexico, along with trips to Algodones.  We have camped just south on the trees by the plank road, right next to the fence the entire time.  We are the group furthest East and South from Plank road, you can't miss us, stop by for a beer

The best option for Gordons is staying at the Gordons well rv park with full hook ups, leave your rv and toys and commute back and forth for the season, its like having another home with everything set up, drive right in and pull the car out of the trailer and away we go. It pays off if you go enough, we usually will run out to 5 mile drop which is the old entrance to Patten valley at the canal  and within 20 minutes we can be in Glamis, or stay in Gordons its been our best option, dragging the motor home and trailers home gets old.

As a former long-time Dunebuggy Flats/Buttercup camper and now a Gordons Well RV Park dweller, I fully support this option....

How expensive is it down there compared to the HOA dues for RRE????  LOL

Seriously,  can you do a 1 weekend stay?  Say, 4 or 5 days?

Is there a length limit?  Some of our folks have pretty long rigs.

All of the Glamis snobs.....

Best part of Gordons and Buttercup is that I'm out there most weekends.  I'm a vendor out there.  I do repairs, shock tuning, sell parts and drink all beer that is brought to me by my awesome customers.

Gordons is tough at times, but it got a chit ton of rain the last few weeks.  It will make it a lot easier to get in and out.  I pull my 40' pusher with a 28' enclosed out there 10-15 times a year.  If I go to Buttercup (rarely), I park at Midway.  :ez:

$4,800 for the season plus electricity, which is October 1st to May 1st my spot is 25 foot wide and 85 foot long, I park my 40 ft motor home  and box trailer in line and usually leave my jeep Rubicon and a flat bed trailer there, and usually a truck, total respect for your property, all gated with access code to get in, everyone in the park watches out for each other and if any rif raf gets in they  are escorted out quickly, no bullshit

I already get to travel thru Beautiful Westmoreland and Enchanting Brawley.....you want me to add Imperial, El Centro and Holtville to that drive?

I do like to camp at Little Dumont vs Dumont, would it be a similar experience?

:poke:

If you find Westmoreland beautiful and Brawley enchanting your going to love the quaintness of Holtville the shining gem that is Imperial and the bustling metropolis that is El Centro.

If you want to see real spectacular sights though I suggest Ripley and Palo Verde

I think your best bet would be to take the 78 past Glamis, make a right on Ogilby road.  Then head west on the 8 to Gordons.  It would save you a ton of time...   :bangin:   :ez:

Camped in Buttercup just South of Plank Road this Tday, it was our 30th year in the same exact spot.  Not a camp within 500 yards of us all weekend.  No night racers and no terrible music was heard throughout the night as well.

We broke a bunch of dishes in the motorhome mobbing out of Gordon’s this last trip. It was ALL soft. I was one of the only people in my camp to not get stuck either going in or out. I lay awake at night dreading getting stuck there.

Close to the same place we always camp. We are just a little west of plank.
