Camp Razor Pictures

Went on a 9am ride to Duners Diner and it was really empty. Still took an hour to get our order but that's typical and worth the wait.

Went to Vendor's around 2pm on the way to visit friends in Wash 6. Completely packed, SxS's everywhere. Very few sandrails, not surprising. Haven't actually duned but friends say it's a complete chit show with SxS's everywhere.

Insane amount of people / beautiful fireworks headed back to camp right before they opened the gates

onthe way back to gecko on the 78…..pics do not do justice on how many Sxs were on sand highway

you couldn’t fit another utv or quad on there / it was insa

fun to walk around / good times

Glad to be back in the sand…

Good lord those RZR bumps on sand highway sucked.

Why was I on Sand Highway?

Whoops. Oh well, thought it was the transaxle, luckily it was just a cracked wheel. Had to swap on a spare front tire from a buddy’s car since I thought “I’m not gonna need my dirt tires”

I was out there from Thursday evening through this morning.  A friend convinced us to camp with him on Pad 1.5.  Thankfully two of us were staying in another friends motorhome or we would of never shoehorned our rigs into the camping spot.  Been a while since I have camped on Gecko for a holiday weekend and I forgot how you have to be a master of Tetris to get larger camping groups situated.

Tons of people out there, which was expected when Polaris has not put on an event for 2 years.  We were able to get in a lot of good dune runs with no real issues of other groups crossing paths.  Only time you had to really be on the lookout was around Olds and the area near Sunset Hill after 5pm.  Sand Highway was the usual mess.  We took Sand Highway from Gecko to Vendors one time.  We left late from camp and were trying to make it to Camp RZR for the drawing on Saturday and to see Pennywise.   Left camp at 6:15 and was parked and in line by 6:40.  Sand Highway was nothing but chatter bumps, funky whoops, and cars all over the place.  It was kind of fun threading the needle making some passes.   I do not understand how people go to Glamis and literally only take sand highway the entire time they are there.

This was for sure the biggest crowd I have seen for a Halloween weekend.  Olds on Saturday night was super busy.   Had a great night ride from Olds back to Gecko.  Went all over the big dunes and never saw other lights.

I thought Polaris did a great job with the even.  They had people out in the dunes handing out stuff and making a good presence.  They had a good gig.  They got to dune all over in Pro Rs and hand people free stuff.  We saw them at Brawley Slide.

My group had a great time and burned a lot of fuel. Good way to kick off the season.

It was packed, no doubt about it! Weather was amazing, not the 100+ from 4-5 years ago that I remembered. I was planning to skip this weekend but had to get storage and the trailer situated for the season before the vets trip... didn't do that last year and too much stress on that trip. I arrived Friday early afternoon and was happy to see that the construction was off for the day and the 78 wasn't shut down to one lane. I worked the inside the event at ASA booth with Dave and Bryan the whole time and never saw the dunes, didn't even unload the car. Polaris knows how to throw a party and did a great job imo. Highlight of the weekend was the Brandt Beef ribeye at The Town Pump, best steak I have had in a while!

Why does this not surprise me  ? ? ?

didnt take too many pics...

was nuts! got in friday morning left sunday morning.

friday camp rzr was pretty dead, face to face was awesome but not many people there at all, they played for along time too probably my fav part of the weekend.

camped in wash 15, still had some people out there with music playing loud till 4am. people were camped right right off wash road and even in the whoops next to the road. never seen that before.

friday night at the hill was horrible but we wanted to check it out. leaving the hill the road was worse than any freeway at rush hour. and at the top road leaving the hill where it gets really narrow was a complete chit show. people stuck, broken, then a bunch of people just parked to watch the madness making it even worse. we stayed away saturday night. spent most the time in the dunes alot less people but still more than normal even out in the dunes.

saturday night went over to camp rzr for pennywise. they were doing the raffle prizes before pennywise so trying to find a spot to park was insane. then to get in thru their bag check was crazy. pennywise is one of my favorite bands but their set was not that good. was not very long. fletcher talked way too much. but they did play a few of my fav songs i still enjoyed it.

left sunday morning about 9:30 wash road stopped about wash 9, took about an hour to get to the highway. someone else in our group left about 40 min after i did and they hit the traffic at wash 14 and took them over 2 hours to get to the highway. stopped at the new chevron in salton sea that used to arco to dump the tanks, at least that was easy there was only one person ahead of me so did not have to wait very long at all. i was expecting the dumps to be a crazy wait.

if it was not for the bands playing i dont think we would of gone. we dont like big weekends and that was just way too much. one of those glad i went but wont go again. rest of the year will be off weekends. with maybe exception of new years.
