BLM coming for the swing set, windmill, carlas bench etc.

I look at it this way....give the BLM an inch...they take a mile....in the name of safety, environmental etc. can grant them unstoppable power / control.
What's next; remove the pads on Gecko because too many people camp there and they found firepits, stop folks from going to olds because too many people congregate there and they found buried beer cans....maybe being a bit dramatic here but don't rule out...Glamis is in California and Sacramento is NUTS with plenty of sheep cheering them on.

Difference here is random users didn't put pads on Gecko, BLM did.

True....so is it known for certain that Swing-set was installed without any permits and or BLM approval?
Maybe it's been said before, but I truly don't know.
Yeah, to my knowledge: all of the sites on their removal list did not pre-exist, nor were they authorized.

I'm a Purist.

LOTS of people don't agree with me on many topics.

I've been going to Glamis since 1985, introduced to it by my Sister's Dad's family... the Prescotts.

Before that was riding my brother's ATC 70 around the neighborhood.

No "Destinations". Just riding.

I enjoy visiting Brad and his crew but I definitely have never "needed" them to enjoy the Dunes.

My OPINION is that the place is just as exciting with just sand, brush and basic camping. All of this extra shit is just that.

The National Park comment is the Hammer hitting the Nail on the head as best as could be said, on this topic. Probably the best perspective to use in this case. But... opinions are like assholes...

Ya, hard to argue if there was never a permit issued and or approved by BLM...it is Federal Land...we pay for it, but we don't get too much say in how the funds are used that's for sure.
Kudos to whoever took the time and money to build it...that thing is built like a brick shiat house...still bummed if it goes away but can't blame them, I guess...great spot to meet up at but not one to sit there all damn day...I came to ride!!

Pretty sure the swing set was cleared with the proper people before it was put up. If they were going to remove it they could of done so by now.

I don't really care about the destinations. Like others, when I'm lead, we stop where I hear something wrong, someone else has something wrong, or the group appears to have had enough and wants a breather.

That said, we do stop at them, watch for a bit, then move on. The show is amusing at places like the Swingset.

What I like the most about destinations? People who probably shouldn't be duning drive straight there, hang out for hours, then drive straight back. This makes them easy to avoid. Outside of near these destinations, I rarely see other groups on a run. Unfortunately, when I get close to these destinations, the stupidity increases exponentially.

The trail of chatter bumps lets you know you are getting close to a hangout spot for the straight line/sand highway people.

I got into Glamis after meeting my wife's family. Boy, was Comp a thing my first trip out there... Felt safer cruising South Central at night than there. LOL.
Ironically, the location was created by wind, water and ATC 110 Paddle tires (sarcasm, for those that don't have the aptitude). Not a Welder, Chop Saw and a trip from someone's garage on a trailer.

Geeez... I wonder why it's STILL there... 🤣...

Point exactly. BLM just took acreage in the flats for safety lanes. They took calendar days away from us on Osborne lookout. What did we get in return? Not a damn thing. What did ASA have to say? They were happy about it, promoted it and never considered asking for land in return. Could have opened up a few more washes for camping, asked for some more pads poured on Gecko. Anything but just giving up land.
It's a legitimate argument and wasn't considered. Not going to argue the reasons and needs for the lanes and Osborne for flight space, just not in the game to give and not receive in return.

Wanna fight back!
Join the fight to open Patton valley. Spread the word. If we loose these destinations, let's fight to open some.
This is absolutely possible.

I hope if they do take it down they save the original signs for Arts family and not just trash the thing.

There are a few memorials that have been added that are legit, one is Mark Warmouth along with Art.

Less is more in the Dunes.....

Why is Comp still closed??

Get Patton access open again.............

If no destinations - the amount of chatter bumps would probably be reduced? There would be less people all going to the same exact spot.
I like the destinations for the car shows - part of the fun for me is looking at all the buggies out in the dunes.

My first trip to Glamis my friend took us to Comp on a Saturday night. That place was wild! All the people that use to camp on the highway next to comp and all the way down Sand Highway.
