So I was thinking last night we have camped all over glamis. The washes, Cement flats, the canal, the pads, roadrunner but never keyhole. Why do most people like where they camp? I see a lot of people like Pad 3, pad 4, and so on and so on.  What makes those spots so great?

My group is in Wash 4-6 area. half of us leave our stuff in storage across the street so its convenient. I would like to move deeper in the washes or over to Gecko but my group are a bunch of old grumpy MoFO's who hate change. So I guess i am staying  :crying:

Holiday weekends washes have more room for larger groups.  Off weekend when the group is much smaller we try to camp on Gecko.  Each offers a different dune experience.

Way back in the quad days are favorite spot was right off the end of cement flats in the sand.  We all had trucks and small open trailers.  Perfect place for tent camping.

Washes for me - Totally F'd up that I go to Gecko on an off weekend - Friday, get there at 1PM and there's no spots.  Am I jealous, yes - but also kind of douchee to have people take up space when they are not even there- seems like they all have at least one retired buddy who watches all the rigs.

Washes - always a spot available.  Gecko also felt a bit Orange county to me - small tight shorts and flat bill dudes...50+ trying to look 25...too cool for me.

Depends on the trip and the riding. Big group with a bunch of kids? Gordons. Off weekend with a few guys going to clock hours in the dunes? Gecko. We used to do the washes for a couple trips a year, but haven't in a couple seasons

We used to do Keyhole for summer trips.  Big gravel and a weird slope.

Now that I have my 5th, I gotta slum it.  Neither my kids, my wingman or myself like it.

Miss our old spot.  4wd and air down.  Still an option for us but wife won't go without hauler.

pad 4 is my favorite. can run the dogs at sun up on the west dune. not a fan of the washes. road beats RV to death, to far away from the good dunes.

Parked at Roadrunner once. was amazing ...

With my limited trips, I am leaning more and more to Gecko.  Less dust, bigger dunes right there.  Coming in early to mid week hasn't stopped me from getting a spot on pad 3 or any pad for that matter.  Not a fan of the drags so the further down Gecko the better for me.  Not a fan of roadrunner.  Way to tight around the loop when the weekend fills up with trailers.

I used to be a die hard wash guy but was then introduced to Gecko by a buddy of mine. I now prefer either Pad 1.5, Gecko loop or RoadRunner. Not having to go through the wash chop to get to the bigger dunes is a huge plus for me. Also I tend to see that the gecko is alot quieter at night versus the washes.

Pad 4, Keyhole or Cement Flats.

Not sure I'm gonna even make it out this year with so much going on!

Looks like I'm gonna miss our annual Boyz Trip, bummer...

Camped Vendor's my first trip New Years 1996 (have the shirt to prove it). Then Pad 1 so we could be close to the drags back when Blue Thunder was the sh!t. Tried Wash 4 with the crew from KROQ once. Once. Discovered Roadrunner around 2014 and camped with a great group, lots of board members here, some former board members. We did a Keyhole trip once and the group kinda broke up after that. But we did get a great Youtube video of the weekend by dunefreq. Tried Pad 3 but not for me. Back to Roadrunner and that's s where I'm staying. We have around 25 families that camp with us on different weekends. No matter when I go out there's always someone from our group there to camp with.

Glamis is the best place to camp in the ISDRA

:bag:

I take what I can get, no complaints from me

Im with @Crusty.

the best place to camp @ Glamis is... @ Glamis. LOL

Seriously though, we have only camped @ the washes so I dont know if any place is better or worse.

Always did pad 3/5 area. Last few times though it did not get quiet at night like most other times. Really like the area in the summer!

With a larger group usually circle the wagons in the deep washes.

Small group, Gecko loop preferably up on the hill.

For all the reasons others have mentioned.

Doesn’t matter where as long as you’re camping with your peeps and enjoying Glamis. For us it’s the washes. Heading out there tomorrow. Been going to Glamis since 1976. It’s our favorite place
