Best deal on a smaller super quiet generator

I picked this up last season. I tent so mostly just needed it to keep my batteries and re-chargables topped up. Super quiet and dual fuel so I run it on propane so the carb doesn't gum up in the off season

I ran a Honda 2000 on all my toyhaulers. Still runs with 4458hrs on it currently. Oil change every 100 hrs with 15w-40 Rotella oil. Moved to a big entegra coach. Had to get a predator 3500 to run the bigger ac. It currently has 1822hrs with the same oil change schedule. Not sure it’s going to last as long as the Honda.

I destroyed my onboard Onan 5500, a Honda 3000, Honda 2200, and four.... four Predator 5000s this season. It was a hot one and ~80s of the days out there they ran 24/7.

While the Onan holds a slightly bigger load, you absolutely can't beat the Predator 5000. I did 682 hours in a month on the first one before seeing how good that warranty works.

As far as noise, I prefer it to the Honda 3000. It may be a couple decibels louder but the tone is better. Remote start/stop and a kickass warranty for the win. The ~3.8 gallon tank will make sure that it runs all night even with a full load!

I have tried the two Honda 2200s in parallel, only running one and then kicking on the second when needed for microwave, an AC, etc... it's a pain in the ass not to mention the small fuel tanks and still not handling nearly what the Predator 5000 will hold.

I'm looking into solar and batteries on the next RV, though hindsight this season would have paid for it with up to 100 gallons a week in genny fuel. FFS, that's what Brad uses in diesel to power Daddy's and their RVs.... fk, maybe I should skip all these small gens and just get a proper 25kw

edit to add... the best deal is when the 5000 goes on sale for the same price the 3500 retails at, then you basically get out the door with a free 2yr warranty

No clue other than constant load. I always had good luck as well until this one. It was ~140 hours after a full service that it let go... sounded like throwing a set of pots and pans down a flight of steps if you try to start it. It's been swapped out for a good one and sent off for analysis and rebuild, if it's worth it.

Curious. Are you guys running the same oil it comes with, doing oil changes or just sending it out of the box?

They don't come with oil. You have to add it.
You run it for 10-30 hours, change the oil and then run it!
