Anybody had hernia surgery lately? What to expect?

3" cut with mesh sewn in? Yes they're charging extra to subdue the monster while operating.
Just had mine done in December. Inguinal. I chose to have it done laparoscopic. This way they could check the other side and they found a Hernia there also. The Surgery itself was not bad at all but the swelling in my balls was the worst part. lol
I still have a lot of sensitivity in one of them. It can take quite a while for the swelling to go down. My advise..... Take the pain killers...lol Wear "Tighty Whities" And Ice Ice Ice...

Good luck, a former member here had the worst luck with that and had to have it fixed 2-3 times. Horrible that mesh crap.

Never had one, but I go in every month just to have the
nurse hold my nuts and ask me to cough.
.
That being said, my sister in law had the surgery, they left a sponge inside her.
After the lawsuit, she was $30,000 better off, and they removed the sponge.

guy at work just had it done last week. it was quick and easy, light duty for like 6 weeks. worst part was he was plugged up for about 7 days. dr. told him to keep drinking miralax or something like that, so he drank a bottle a day. 2 days later he said satan exploded so bad, when he did go, it was so bad he was sitting down on the toilet and throwing up in the bathtub because the smell was worse than anything he'd ever experienced lol. We were all rolling. Then he went so much the next about week, he got dehydrated pretty bad.
Don't be David lol. good luck

Had one done in 2012. They went through the belly button and I ended up with a lot of mesh. I guessing had a lot of tears.

I had a right side Inguinal in 2003... at the time I thought it was the worst surgery I had ever went through. Once the drugs wore off after I got home, I couldn't stop puking which compromised the mesh that was just installed.

Another in 2016 when I was literally building the Canndescent grow facility in Vista... this time the left side. The surgeon was pretty arrogant and made clear to mention that his current methods are way better than what I went through in 2003. He also made the claim, "I may have to cut a nerve and you may feel some discomfort/numbing at the base of your dick".

"May?!"

I did. Still do. Thanks, Doc. Your "methods" suck.

That recovery was hell. Took all of the 4-5 weeks they usually do to heal up and I was far more uncomfortable with what was done, than the one before. This scar is still sensitive, the other one I don't even know is there anymore.

All I can really say is... don't lift anything you don't need to for at least a month and do your best not to get into coughing fits. Other than that, you'll survive and be all good in about 60 days.
