Anybody get Beef from wash 11?

Picked up a 1/4 a few weeks ago.  So good!!  I didn't realize what a difference the quality is compared to the grocery store. Still working thru the different cuts. We are going thru the ground beef very quickly though. I will probably have to get some more of that on the next go around.  I really want to try the chicken and pork now!

Looks like they now can ship orders directly.  Good move . . .
Kind of. I'm my own shipping company. Let me explain how it works.....

I can carry three steers in my freezer. I simply take my trip cost to Southern California for instance and divide it by 12 1/4 beefs. This brings the delivery cost down to $75 per 1/4 for delivery. It's 920 miles round trip for that run. Add in food and road munchies and what I pay a guy and his wife to feed while we're gone- it covers my costs but I'm still donating my time. I don't mind working for free while building a customer base in new areas. I have another freezer on order that will allow me to do 4.5 steers on a run with the same overhead that will eventually pay me for my time on the trip. I get bonus points for getting Amy a bike ride on the beach after Saturday pickups.

SoCal is the 15 starting in Barstow with stops in Victorville and Hesperia then a drop point at the 15 and 210 then again at the 15 and 91. I've also taken the 60 West to the 57 for a drop in Diamond Bar. I always land at my families shop in Santa Ana for Friday afternoon pickups followed by early Saturday pickups. That covers a big chunk of socal. If I have enough sold, I can make a San Diego run as well but for now those peeps meet me at 15/91.

Vegas and Phoenix are the same program but the cost is $50 per steer. Still no charge for Havasu or Kingman.

I've looked into using refrigerated shipping companies- by time I package it and cover shipping costs, the final bill is obscene. Plus, I have trust issues. I sleep way better knowing Amy and I are the only ones touching your beef and I can guarantee it to be frozen solid when it reaches you.

We need a freezer first......Price is on below what local stuff is here in Norco.....I think maybe next year I'll have to do a 1/2 a cow.....  1/4 is a great  option.... I guess I'm going freezer shopping.
Let's talk about freezers!

Chest vs stand up= Stand up every time. This actually saves marriages fellas. They take up less floor space, use almost the same vertical space when you factor in needing to lift the lid on a chest, and give you more options to organize and access your cuts. They might take a dollar more per year to run electricity wise but not when you factor in the complete disassembly of your chest freezer to find your brisket for Super Bowl Sunday.

About the fifth time your wife has to go freezer diving for dinner, your idea of buying a 1/4 cow is not so neat to her anymore. Don't get me wrong, it's doable and a ton of people have them. But if you're starting from scratch anyway- this is a much better experience.

Size= 7 to 10 cubic ft work great. 11 to 14 cubic ft are ideal for most. 20+ cubic ft is the ultimate for a family.

DO NOT hassle with going to the box stores. Go online and take advantage of the free shipping. These guys show up, unbox and haul away trash plus set the freezer wherever you want it. I've walked at least 60 customers through this process over the years.

Here's the one I recommend. It's a few extra bucks but a garage ready simple means it can handle temperature swings and 48 hour power outages without losing your investment. I have two sitting outside that see temps in the single digits up to low 100's. Zero drama. Do not go cheap on your freezers guys, even the top quality ones are really inexpensive for what you get.

GE Garage Ready 14.2 cu. ft. Frost Free Upright Freezer in White FUF14QRRWW - The Home Depot

In ten years we have had three (out of hundreds) customers lose a freezer and its contents to power outages/tripped gfi's and a freezer that just quit working. Pro-tip- your homeowners policy covers this type of loss with zero deductible for up to $1500. For an additional $19 per year I moved my limits up to $10000 per occurrence because I have multiple freezers.

I love that you love your beef! We sell ground beef on its own and there's no problem adding an extra 10 to 50lbs to a beef order.

Do you guys use pelham to prosses your meat ? i just ordered 1/2 cow and a whole hog from dunton.  my last cow Mohave meat co stole my cow and I got some crap I couldn't feed my dog and the yield was 126 pounds for a half cow!!

I’ve used Pelham on pigs and was very happy. Great family and a really clean facility. You should be super happy with them. We use Perkinsville Meat Processing in Chino Valley for most of our stuff.

Kill a javalina and have them make chorizo sausage!  Perkinsville knows what they are doing!

I’m sure that smelled grrrreeeeeaaaaaaaat
Oh my goodness it was sooooo baaaaaad. My wife had started and couldn’t take it. I had to take over and get it finished.

Little trick I learned.  Take a small cup of water and put it in the freezer.  Once the water is frozen. Put a penny on top of the ice in that cup. Put it back in the freezer. If you ever open that freezer and see the penny is gone, good chance the fridge/freezer went warm. Penny went to the bottom of the cup.  Ice melted and refroze when it came back on.

Stepson had a full pig......grandson decided to clean out his car, so he used the freezer plug for the wet dry vac and of course....didn't plug it back in........put a weatherproof cover on the plug and LOCK it.... so nobody can unplug it.........

Joel! We are in Phelan, when is the next time you are coming this way?

Got my order on Friday.   Plans to get in on the BBQ thread real soon.   1/4 cow.  I have two apartment size fridge freezers.  One in the garage at home and one at my shop.  1/4 cow filled up both top freezers.  A stand alone chest freezer 6/7 CF would have a little room to spare.   Nice thing about the top freezers is I dont have to dig for anything so Like Joel mentioned earlier.  A stand up freezer would be ideal if your gonna buy something.

Thank you again @wash11

Maybe next time we're coming to Glamis he'll let us stop by and grab a "TO GO" order. Peace
