Looking to see if any of you are Porsche people.

ive wanted one since I was 5 years old. I’ve always said I would have one by 50 (I’m 43)but starting to be impatient and wonder why I’m waiting lol.

im looking for a 911 997 (2012-2016) just because those are the last years of flat 6.

anything to stay away from I wand a Carrera 4s

Been looking for the same year span for a Carrera S off and on for a few years. Couple things that amaze me are the retention value (even pre-pandemic) and the turnover rate. Seems like lots of people scratch the itch and move on.

I think the same values hold, but I think we are in for a price drop.

seems like values hold, drop then rise then stay as they age

What do you mean the "last years of the flat 6" ?  Every 911 is a flat 6. Anyway, I had the same bug since I was about 12 when I went for a ride in my girlfriends dads 911sc. (about1979 or 80). I always told myself I'd have a 911 one day.  Back then the Turbo was the goal cause it was the top dog, but today IMO, if you want the ultimate driving experience, you need a normally aspirated car which you only get with a GT4, or GT3 ( and RS ) . The sound they make are just insane. They cost more on the front end, but they also hold their value more.

I've had 2 356s and always figured I'd get a vintage 911, but man the early ones are ridiculous $$ these days.  Would also love a 993 as I think they are just flat out bad ass and represent the last air cooled models.

A few years back I did the Porsche Experience in  Carson and got to A/B the GT3 with a Turbo.  GT3 is hands down the best car I've ever driven and was so fun to rip around their track.  The AWD on the Turbo didn't really do much for me.

Love this topic!

Would love to someday.

In fact this is what I would order if I could.

This the GT-3 Touring edition.

Not a fan of the Monster wing...unless driving on a track, but that's my opinion.

For me this is clean and still a very capable car and a daily driver...beyond what our freeway system can handle!

:lmao:

Had a 1980 911 sc targa years ago.  I paid $3400.  It had a crunched right front fender. Was able to buy factory metal and get the car painted and fixed up.  I think I had a total of about $6800 invested.  Drove it for a year, then sold it for $15k.  I kind of wish I would have kept it.  It probably would have doubled in value with the current market.  80k original miles and factory air.  Wonder what it would go for now?

I was under the impression the newer ones were v6? See that’s why I’m searching for more info. I e researched for ever and still learn something new everyday about these cars. I haven’t looked at anything over 2017 just because it’s out of my Porsche budget lol

My buddy is a porsche nut.  He built this from scratch several years ago with a Danzio LS drive train.  Super fun car to drive.

Naw.  911 will likely always be a rear engine flat 6.  It took forever just to get the faithful to convert from air cooling.  911 GT3 (or GT2) has always been a dream of mine.  Someday...

that white GT3 is my dream car!

one of my gym buddies is a mechanic at porsche in palm springs, these two were in the shop yesterday

I dated a wealthy Persian girl whose father owned an auto repair and body shop.  We were together from 16yo to 20yo (she was 4yrs older than me).  He had always owned a 959 but it was chassis and body only- no engine or trans...or interior for that matter.  Over the time we dated, he built it from the ground up.  I remember him putting a custom built Chevy V8 motor with turbo in it while keeping it AWD.  The thing was a bullet and handled like a go-kart.

I was a kid back then and didn't know much about cars so I didn't appreciate it until about 20 years later when I learned about the legend that is the 959.  We lost contact so I don't know where it ended up.

Edit: preemptive strike on dbart :mac:
