We are moving in to our motorhome in a couple weeks and looking to step up to a pusher. We really like the Berkshire XL40C. I only know one person who had one and he had some issues with the subfloor being too thin. Do any of you have any experience with them?

We are also looking at the Fleetwood Discovery 40G.

Our wish list includes:

-380-450hp

-King bed in master

- Bunk beds

- Large shower

- Residential fridge

Have you looked at Newmar Dutch Stars?  Their bunk model hits all of your marks, including a 8.9L 450/1250 ISL and Allison 3200MH.  They can be had on either Freightlinger or Spartan (K2) chassis.  Nothing but Newmar and Newell (start at $2M) have Comfort Drive, and it's absolutely worth it.  Newmar quality is a cut above anything I've seen from Fleetwood or Forest River, but I'm biased.  To be clear, I had a new Dutch Star in '16 (2017 model) and it had its share of new coach problems, but the actual build quality is just different.

They are nice and I would love one, but they are out of our price range. We are looking for something used (2015 or newer) between $150k-$225k.

Before the last year or so you could get into a '15 Dutch Star at the top of that range.  IDK how bad it is now.

I just bought a 2018 coachmen sportscoach cross country 404rb. For the price I feel there is a lot of high end features.

Bath and a half

king bed

solon bunks (drop down over dinette and sofa super unique and would never know they are there kids love it)

4 slides

large master bath

really nice quadruple clear paint

res fridge/large shower

raised rail frame for pass through storage and tons of it

freightliner chassis 360hp cummins/3000 allison

this coach checked all the boxes for our family, we spend a lot of time in glamis and camping in the summer. Plenty of power may grab 5th going up a hill towing but doesn’t lack power in any way shape or form

i did a ton of research for my price point sub 200k check out some of the cool build features in this factory tour

attached a couple pics for ya. This is not a newmar as TJ can be you pro on that, he has had several. Good luck

that's an amazing coach!

A friend had a newer one a few years ago and said it was a nightmare. He ended up getting them to buy it back / lemon law it.

not sure if it was just a certain couple years of manufacturing that went way down in quality or what. They are a nice looking coach.

I have a 2015 Newmar Ventana and I agree with TJ. The quality seems to be a bit above in the Newmar’s. Mine is a level below the Dutch Star but it is a great coach and I think you could find one at the top of your budget. Also I agree that if you could find a year old one that has the bugs worked out that would be a good idea. Mine had a few head scratchers but I decided to fix them all myself instead of taking it back to the dealer or factory. Was a good idea in the long run because I know more about the coach now than the dealer.

Anyway, just another vote for Newmar.

Super bad ass coach, those bunks are rad AF!  I'm showing this to a buddy, that's exactly what he needs (Vegas Steve that has my first Warrior, you know him from RRE).

Berskshire isnt known for a quality build.

You should be able to find a nice quality built coach for your price range, but you may be looking at 2011-16 years.

The Fleetwood Discovery is a great price point coach. In my opinion. And I owned one.

I have heard the same thing from a couple other people. I really like the Berkshire layout, but I dont want to buy a $200k POS and regret it

Fully understand that. Finding the right layout, in a used coach that isn't destroyed and the chassis has been maintained is a daunting task! But worth it when you find the right one.

We have found several Fleetwood 40G and Berkshire 40XLC coaches across the country that look clean from the pictures. I was ready to buy the Fleetwood until I saw the layout in the Berkshire. We are planning to go look at them at a local dealer before we decide anything

Just my .02 cents. Even with the market the way it is and has been for a while, be wary of lots (inventory to choose from) of the specific coach. You probably won't see as many quality coaches available for sale. Also, if a deal just seems to good to be true, it probably is. I would definitely hire an RV inspector to go through any coach privately or from a dealer before purchasing. We just had an inspector come to our lot to inspect a coach for a buyer out of state. An hour later , buyer got the green light and the deal was made. Win win for both parties.

I don't have any direct experience with the Berkshire, but I did sell quite a few Discovery 40G's back in 2015-2018. The discovery is a beautiful coach, although can be finicky if not properly maintained. Any DP needs regular maintenance also obviously.

Best of Luck in your search for the perfect for you coach.
