Been wanting to do this for a while. Got tired of the Brass fireplace screen, the old stone tile, and just the look of it.
So I drew up something, rendered it, showed it to my wife, and she was on board.
Took the same stacked stone tile we did on our pool and outdoor BBQ, then did a railroad tie-style mantle and new glass screen.
Only thing left is either a clock, a new mirror or a picture, not sure yet!

I did the same. Brought in the stacked stone from outdoors and used it for my fireplace.
Looks great Dbart.

Wow, looks great. Really good job on the mitered corners, is the fireplace a little wider at the top?

No, just the angle of the dangle...I mean the pic!
Forced perspective there.
LOL

Yep, just trying to tie stuff together!
We also added in some recessed lighting in the falily room there...1964 Ranch house is not known for lighting. LOL
What a difference.

Nice.

Wish my wife would've stayed simple, instead of the entire great room/kitchen/laundry room... I'm basically living in an empty warehouse currently.

That was Pete @lovesdunes, RIP!
We had some really fun threads going! Miss that guy.
Ohhh yeah. For some reason I always thought that was you. :)

But yeah, he was a great guy. Literally ran into him when he dropped something off the back of his truck and I hit it. Pulled over and made certain there wasn't any damage to my truck. Not many people would do something like that.

Pete was so good about hiding them. So, here's a shot at it...I'm not gonna tell you or give you any hints!
But I will say, there may be more than one....ChatGPT Image Apr 24, 2026, 03_08_40 PM.png
