I know there is more to this story. Anyone have any more info than this?
"The filing lists several legal proceedings involving Alumicraft, including a wrongful death case filed by the estate of Kuhnhenn in Multnomah County Circuit Court and two insurance-related cases involving State Farm."

Guessing those are the catalysts

When I ordered my new car two years ago Alumicraft was originally what I intended to build. As I did my diligence I got concerned about their financial stability and the pending lawsuit from the former owner. I was worried I would have a bunch of money tied up and they would go BK. Looks like my concerns were very real. I think they build a great car but I also couldn’t be happier with my new Funco.

Bummer to hear this about Alumicraft. If you like their cars check out Podium Fabrication. Brian worked at Alumicraft for a long time and left shortly after John sold it and Brian started Podium. He’s done lots of updates and repairs to Alumicrafts for customers. He has designed his own chassis now too. I think they have built 3 of them, and are building a class 10 car.

I love Alumicraft !! Always Have - Quality - Fit and finish are INCREDIBLE !

Looks like they are very busy over there:

Sad to hear about Alumicraft.

The Lawsuit....

"Brian Kuhnhenn was killed while riding as a passenger in a quartermillion dollar sand car designed, manufactured, sold, and delivered by the Alumicraft defendants(the “Sand Rail”). Kuhnhenn had no involvement in the design or purchase of the Sand Rail. He had no agreement with the Alumicraft defendants. And died due to the Alumicraft defendants’ negligence and strict product liability."

Always think twice before giving anyone a ride in your car or boat

Wow, very interesting to see. BK protection is used especially in this nature when lawsuits are filed. Wish them all the best as they are awesome cars, but podium is up and coming.

Looks like he drove into a witches eye, rolled, and both driver and passenger died. Passenger's family is now suing. Couldn't really tell if Alumicraft is being sucked into this by the passengers family, or if those scumbags at State Farm (Driver's insurance company) are dragging Alumicraft into it. Another insurance company happily taking premium money but then not wanting to pay when a claim is filed. The fact that Cooley sold and retired is further muddying the waters.

Took the back seat out of my car a few years ago and never put it back in since my kids don't go out anymore, shit like this makes me wonder if I should take out the front passenger seat as well.

I stopped giving people rides in anything offroad related the day after I cased a jump at the Flagpole with a member here, in my XP4. His back was clearly injured and I was done entertaining people after that. He's fine now but that was the nail in the coffin for Passengers not in my family. Around the same time, my charity case 450R was being left alone as the borrower inherited enough money to buy a Tatum... and I stopped allowing people to ride that, as well.

I Spoke to Matt Majors yesterday. It's my understanding that it's the prior company filing Chapter 7. He reassured me they are continuing to build cars....
sadly the alumicraft name is heavily tarnished over the lawsuit regardless who owns it today.
