After 54 years I am done.

I am 57 yrs old, rode in Kennedy Meadows in September, crashed and broke my finger and messed up my thumb as well. I still have zero hand strength. It was struggle bus for me. I have been riding for over 50 years so it is tough to say I am done. I am bummed, but not worth it anymore. I think I am officially done on two wheels in the dirt.
I broke my right wrist on a summer night ride. @BaBaBouy can give the play by play. I didn't wreck, but the G-out alone was enough to break my wrist. I knew it was broken but didn't want to ruin my weekend. I soaked it in the ice crest between rides until I went home on Sunday.

Fast forward a year and a half. Out jumping off Olds. We had a lane, spotters, all the right stuff. Some drunk fuck let his kid go out in the landing area when I was midair. I self sacrificed to not kill this kid. The dad then tried to fight me saying I wasn't paying attention. Seriously wanted to kill this guy. Thank God for his friends that drug him and his kid away. I ended up breaking my right hand. Broke a couple fingers and the other bones in the palm of my hand when my bike bars came right down on my hand.

Mind you...I'm REALLY right-handed. I also lived alone. I looked like a monkey fucking a football trying to go to bathroom or doing anything for that matter. I kept cutting my cast off to just feel human again if only for a minute. THEN...I went to get my cast off and the fucking doctor "accidentally" re-broke my hand showing an intern how to set tension on a broken hand. I absolutely lost my shit. I made the orthopedics department at the Naval Hospital make me a special cast that I could take off because I wasn't going back through that again. Hand healed up pretty good. No real issues but I get cramps in it if I use it too much or in the cold.

Long story long...the fear of being back in a cast again helped move the decision to give it up. I still road street for a while but that ended too. I just want to go fast and be stupid... :ROFLMAO:

One other thing, I still get my dirt fix with the Funco and the Raptor, I just need to let go of the past and stop thinking I can do the things I did when I was 30 years old. With age comes cage.....haha

"with age comes a cage"
I started having kids later , 30's, and have a 17 year old now. I'm 51. bought bikes for him and me and the first trip out, not even 2 miles from were we parked, I laid it down in a wash. I immediately realized that I could not ride like I use to and sold the bike a few weeks later. I just buy buggies or SXS's now for the rush I need. Sucks, because the kid wants to ride and I do to, but I just cant afford to be broken on Monday morning. We do allot of outdoor activities, watersports and desert, and I will always do them as long as it doesn't hurt to bad!!

My kids are now 18 and older, I thought this was finally the time I could get a Chopper, Fat Boy Harley, Enduro, Baja MX....something!

Yore killing me with this "Too Old stuff".

I am still holding on just sold my monster Manx

There was a time awhile back when it looked like you were at war with modern medicine, testing the limits of a doctor’s ability to put you back together. I had you at #2 on my list of “remember that dude.” ABC beat you out for #1.
Your wrist was jacked up, safely removing your ballsack from the gas tank was the challenge.

Thank the lord you carry a spatula and a can of Pam.

Bouy was READY!
The phrase “luck favors the prepared” means that success is more likely to come to those who are prepared and proactive. Yore lucky he didn't offer you a pudding pop.

67 and I still have my V-Rod...

I Really have to protect my hearing these days though. Noise cancelling ear buds are a must.

Loud pipes save lives. 👍🏼

Grew up In Trabuco Canyon 1975 before it was monopolized. Rode XR's all over that place. Holy Jim Cyn, Coto De Caza, The Monistary, Edgars Lake, Ferbers, Joplin, Escape Country (Now Robinson Ranch), Mining Camp 1/2 way up Saddleback, Howells empty pool and more.

On any Saturday you could ride to one of these places and find a handful of other Toughskin wearing longhaired kids riding as well. Just epic days.

Now at 58 I live in an area I can ride right out of my home. I have a Beta 500 RRS but barely ride anymore. I am hanging on man.

best thing you can do is get on a 3 wheeler / ATC 250R or ATC 350X or modern day TPC ATC 450r

Fills all the voids and smiles are endless!
