My Genesis toyhauler only came with one crappy outside storage bin. And I carry a lot of spare shit and like to have it organized. I added one 24” box and replaced the 36” one with a deeper more water proof box.

My goal was to make brackets that bolt on soni didn’t melt any insulation or make things permanent.

I had some 2” angle iron in the garage and felt that will work just fine. I added some unistrut and a window clamp to hold it to the frame along with a short piece of 1” angle iron that sits ontop of the toyhauler frame.

The brackets slip over the frame and are secure by a unistrut window clamp. The tops of the angle will be bolted to the wall supports off the frame. And the boxes will be screwed up into the wood framing for extra support.

I could not find the exact size of toolbox so I will have to cut 1 3/4” out of the depth of the boxes and weld them back together.

Some progress photos from yesterday

What I started with

looks good but I would not trust those uni-strut clamps too not come loose with the way the frame moves around going down the road. Weld it to the frame, if you want to remove it later not much work to cut it off

They will have lock washers and double nutted. We use them at work and i never seen one slip off.

Add bolts with spacers to take up the distance from the bracket to the frame here:

Right now, that single clamp has a pretty big moment on it with nothing to keep it tight against the bottom of the frame. It'll just pivot off of the corner of the frame and loosen shit.

Or, weld it as @Phil Brown says.

Some wheel well molding will cover the cuts in the siding and flesh out the space between the siding and the box.

yes, the tops will have some bolts, spacers or tabs added.

This is one of the reasons I won't go back to a Toyhauler, I would go back if it had a lot more storage. Good job improvising and improving.
