My brand loyalty is based on dealer support (in most cases).

My family have been Ford's Trucks for the most part.  I do remember Grandpa buying a Chevy Truck in 1982, but that was due to the fact you could get in a diesel (6.2L).  Other than that, we always had Ford trucks.  That is trucks.  For cars, I am no longer chasing fancy cars, get me a car that will last, not super expensive tires, and good mileage.  Wife used to have Mercedes, Volvo...now we are rocking a Honda Accord..................simple and never breaks down.

I've never been one to have any loyalty to car brands or any brands for that matter.

Back in the Fall, I bought my wife a Mercedes (GLE class).  Never owned one before, never gave them much attention.  We looked at and drove every high end brand/model out there and went with the Mercedes.  We really thought we were going to get a Maserati but it just felt like and looked like a car 10-15 years behind the power curve.  Living in Havasu, there was no way I'd ever need a 150 MPH plus car.

It did not take long or me to really take to this car.  It drives great, comfortable, hits or exceeds every mark.  I've never said I "feel safe" in a car but this car makes you feel that way.  While this is a new car, when it's time, we both believe we'll most likely end up with another Mercedes.

Anyone have the same opinions or experiences with your cars?

Lexus.  Have a '12 RX350 with 108k.  Just spent 1k on a new radiator and CVT bolt gasket.  Guy said it was good for another 100k.  It's my gym car.

'18 RX450H (wife's).  32k miles.  Nothing but service.

'11 RX350 with 186k (parents).  Routine maintenance and drives like new.  They just took on a 6k mile RT to Mexico.

'92 LS400 (father-in-law is the OG owner).  Has 332k miles.  No trans or motor rebuild...or any other rebuild for that matter.

I can tell you that while I love(d) my '21 Grand Cherokee WK2 the dealer and mfg support is the biggest joke I've ever dealt with and can never suggest that anyone buy a new or near new Mopar vehicle due to what I've been through the last 7 months with it. It is a great driving vehicle and you get a lot of vehicle for the money but damn. I've been a Vw/Audi technician for 23+ years and everyone loves to talk crap about the German vehicles but I have NEVER dealt with worse support for a vehicle than with this Jeep.

As I've gotten older I'm starting to feel the same way.  Maybe just keep an old MGB in the garage to tinker with and enjoy some top down motoring.

Imo, Toyota / Honda are the standard bearers to building quality cars that last. I've had my S2000 since 2005.  170k on the clock and still pulls to 9K RPMs daily  . . .

Pretty much been chevy/gmc for me as far as Trucks. I like the Fords but I just can't see me driving one every day! Not sure what it is, I just like the Chevy/GMC better.

I had a 92 5.0 LX Mustang and that car was awesome!

My wife has a 2015 Camaro and in 2025, probably plan to get her a new car, since hers will be 10 years old...try to get her something new every 10 years.

If she wants another camaro that would be fine with me, but not sure if she wants to stay with that.

I like the Lexus IS Sport edition though...nice car. 

She may want an SUV, so I've even looked at the Ford Explorer ST.

Never really thought about Mercedes though....hmmm.

I used to think I was a Chevy guy until we started looking for a mini-van for my wife & @ the time Dodge simply owned the market.  after comparing features, cost, maint, repairs, it was clear the Dodge was the way to go.  From that point on, I started buying cars for whomever had the best tool for the use.  Currently, I own a Furd, Dodge, Pontiac and Toyota. 

IMO, companies dont give a rip about their customers, so why not pick the one that gives a rip about the things that are important to me.

Honda, Toyota and Chevy have been what we had the best experience with. I'd hate to have a car that spent a bunch of time at the dealer...eff that.

Honda and Toyota are like a Timex watch....tick tock tick tock.

I was always a Ford Truck guy, in 2020 it was time to replace my 10 yr old F250....pricing on the Fords was and still is insane, RAM was offering 0% on the 2019's and the dealer was willing to deal (-$6K) off MSRP.....my wife couldn't believe I was considering not buying a Ford....we made the deal and it's been a great truck....but I do feel like I will be back into a Ford again someday....hard to say because I really do not have any complaints on the RAM....other than the damn side mirrors suck! 

As far as cars, we've had Nissan, Chevy, Ford, GMC, Volvo etc....all different cars for what our needs were at the time...but with two daughters and lots of friends, I really enjoyed our GMC Yukon XL....very comfortable to drive and lots of room for everyone....but it was what we needed at that time. 

I think most of the cars being offered today are built well with great features....like others have said, it's the dealer service that can make a break the experience....you also get what you pay for!

I've had a lot of Hondas over the years and my experience is that they are not as good as they used to be. Window regulators, trim pieces and little things that piss you off. I won't buy another Honda. I like Lexus, but they are 10 years behind in technology, tiny user screens with low tech interfaces and poorly designed interiors that look too much like a cheap Toyota. Comparing a Mercedes to a Lexus, the lexus is like a Flintstones car. 

I currently have an E class Mercedes and its been an awesome car, amazing interior, great gas mileage and every tech thing you could ever want. The heads up display is amazing. Before this car I had 2 Corvettes, and they were both 100% reliable even with modifications. Problem was they were also low tech and cheap interiors. Wife and daughter both have Mazdas, and I am really impressed with them, they have a lot of the tech the Mercedes has and is still a relatively cheap car. If they came out with a luxury/sport car, I would check it out.

My problem is there are no cars out there with a reasonable price I "have to have". Like in the older days when you saw a car and immediately got a chub. Cars are ridiculously expensive.

My wife has had 2 MB's and both were totaled. Both times she was not at fault, the other cars pulled out in front of her. But she walked away from both incidents with no injuries. I do believe they are very safe cars in a collision. (she also does new cars every 2 yrs on average)

Owned Fords since I started driving.  Recently switched to a new Ram 1500 and I am super happy with it.  It drives nicer than my 2018 F150 Lariat and has a few more features then my F150 did.  Gas mileage is better than my ecoboost on the highway.  The Hemi E-torque motor is pretty cool.  I get why people love their Rams.  At this time Ram is the best value for price to what features/truck you get. 

Ford, Chevy, and Toyota did not want to deal when I was looking for my new truck.  Plus for the price I got my RAM the other manufactures did not have half the features and wanted more money. 

My wife seems to like Infinity SUVs these days.

Not knocking people but I HATED my RAM 2500.   F*cking POS!!!  Felt like a Yugo truck.  Good motor but the truck as a whole was a POS!  I never wanted that truck but at the time, my HOA made me keep my vehicle in the garage and a RAM was 6 inches shorter than a Ford or Chevy at the time (2006).  So glad that truck is gone... :lol:

@Cookie I'll let you chew on that a bit and then once you say "Ok, I think I got it..."  times that by MAC.  The HATE flowed like freaking water and sunshine.  We eventually came to an agreement.  They leave me alone, I'll leave them alone.  It only took 10 years to get there.

Im selling my condo, simply because of the HOA.  they can all EAD!!

Brand loyalty?  I have none.  I find a segment I want (truck, sports car, whatever), find my upper limit on price, then test drive whatever each offers in that segment for the price and make a decision.  Tie breaker is dealer experience. 

Lately, Ford has been winning for us.  I'm sure that will change in the future.

Think the wife is in Mercedes number 5, she usually keeps them 10-12 years. I have 2 chevy trucks for play and a ford truck for work, all comes down to what puts a smile on my face.
