450hp-2D VS. 700+hp-S4...................

Stick with th way Josh built the car for a season or 2. He is an avid experienced duner put alot of thought in to the car. Light fast Low CG it will for sure dune and be hard to keep up with.

The 2d will be fine with the light weight car

Josh has a great design and the experience shows in many ways. I have lots of confidence in the car, but I also have a good amount of time before its in the sand, so my mind will continue to stew

Who is Josh?

Builder?

Anybody remember Fastkenny? His little two-seater put shame on a few big dogs around here.

What make a car fast:

1. Driver

2. Driver

3. Driver

4. Suspension

5. Gear ratio's

6. Power to weight

7. Gearbox type (this coming from the gearbox guy)

Go to your local go kart track with your buddies to determine who is actually fast amongst the group. (A favorite activity of Weddle when we visit for PRI show in Indy. There have been more than a few crushed ego's based on lap times)
The kart example is fine if everyone weighs the same.  Put this fat bastard in a cart and driver skills mean nothing. Unless we're in a bumper car. 😜Then I win.

More weight to throw around sir!

BTW, trick to fast corners in a gokart: lean outward, not inward.

Curious how many run the Weddle HV2 and how you like it. What are the pros / cons compared to an S4?
I use an HV-24 and I like it. I bought mine when they were still $9000.  Besides 27mm wide gears, they have bearings in between each gear on the shafts, as well as a tapered roller bearing on the pinion for thrust. Man sized reverse you can actually use too. They are however very big and at 135lbs, they're heavy bitches. I use an Albins LS bellhousing on mine which lets me run Weddle's 11" clutch on a full sized flywheel and a block mounted starter. My clutch pedal is super soft. I don't mind the H pattern shifter, it's tried and true. I don't hang out with the Jonses so I've never considered a sequential. They are neat but I just don't need one.

The weight penalty more than compensates for its reliability. I challenge anyone to actually tell me they can feel the difference.

No one should be building a new car with a 2D. Unless you want to ensure my girls have a well established college fund through your purchase of reverse gears, mainshaft bearings, 2nd/3rd gears, main cases, etc., etc.

Josh is behind Sandcar basics, and the builder, yes. heres a link to their page if you havent seen it yet

if your not an instagram guy, heres a facebook link to their last post on the build. https://www.facebook.com/groups/240203414381493/search/?q=scb1

He built a handful of cars with Mike Mazzone. him and his boys have been the go-to guys for oldshool sandcars, and have been brewing up some cool stuff.

Lies. Horsepower is all that matters. As far as the "Fastest Car in Glamis" trophy I've seen on IG... put it at China Wall and see if any of them can get it.

"fastest car in glamis" is not the same as "fastest man in Glamis".... The latter is what we aspire and build for

I know there are much better options than a 2D but myself and others I know have gotten 6 to 7 seasons out of them behind LS motors ranging from 450 to 500HP. We don’t hammer the woops but are not easy on them by any means duning. No excessive wheeling or jumping just dune hard and they have been holding up fine.

You are not my target audience. I would appreciate it if your drove your car harder and broke things more often. Thanks. (heavy sarcasm)

More to it than HP vs Transaxle.
What type of hubs

CV size

suspension set up.

Driving style.

Tire size.
Etc
