2023 Corvette Z06

Just got a call this am and I got a C8 allocation from my local dealer and submitted my build order! I'm stoked!!!

I like them...a lot! Priced them out, but the dealer mark up around here is ridiculous!

Asked the wife if she would like it and she says she loves them, but said no way to where she has to drive almost daily and we don't have room for just a weekend car.

Probably get her another Camaro in a few years. We'll see.

Of course you don't need a new one to have some fun.

The Z06 will be hard to aquire due to the huge demand and the limited supply once they start producing them. Dealers selling at MSRP have years long waiting list, but if you are willing to pay you could probably get one sooner. Some dealers are already saying $50K ADM, but for the first year or so I think they will be commanding close to $100k premium. That is if the economy doesn't completely tank which is a strong possibility at this point with the idiot in charge.

I got on the dealer list a couple years ago where I picked up our C8 , but even then, I am probably at least 3 years at the soonest.

The NA LT6 flat plane crank with a redline @ 8600 rpm and producing 670hp stock is bad ass. And I'm guessing a base price of just above $90k. They won't announce the MSRP until they open up the Corvette configurator and start taking orders. Hopefully next month?

That video had a lot of misleading info. They still have not announced pricing and will not until shortly before GM starts accepting orders. When he states his order will go in shortly, and that was back in March, what I think he is really saying is he reserved a spot on the dealers wait list. Production of the Z06 won't start until August at the soonest that GM will accept orders will probably in June or early July.

Those 5 spoke wheels on that Z06 are carbon fiber, The 5 spoke wheels will be available in visible carbon fiber or painted carbon flash black. And there will be 2 new colors available, carbon flash black that will replace the solid black, and pearl white that will replace the arctic white.

GM is having a hard time getting parts for the C8. There are frequent constraints on accessories with the C8 and getting the parts seems to be a continuing issue and I can see it being a problem with the Z06. They even shut down C8 production for a week about a month ago due to parts shortages. They even quit taking orders for the base C8 earlier this month and were only building Z51's due to supply chain issues.

One of the cool perks of buying a C8 or Z06 is GM will subsidize the cost of attending the Ron Fellows Corvette Owners School at Spring Mountain in Pahrump when you purchase a new Corvette. We went in March and had a blast. Its 2 full days of class room instruction and track time. My wife took the course, and I just sat in the classroom sessions. I also got to go on some hot laps with the pro's each day which was freaking bitchen. On the second day, Richie Hearn took me on some hot laps and it was amazing to ride with a real pro.

I think the regular price for this course is around $3k, but we only paid $1k. The price includes breakfast and lunch each day, a condo room, and you use their cars on the track, skid pad, autocross course, and launch instruction. Spring Mountain is a cool facility and the instructors and staff are awesome. The head driving instructor, Rick Malone, even told me that he would arrange some hot laps for me anytime I was in the area for free.

Here's a couple pics of my wife on the track.

Pricing for the ZO6 was announced today and it was higher than most thought.

A base 1LZ coup starts at $105k up to $125k for a convertable 3LZ. Add a few options and you can add an additional $20k - $30k easily.

Step up to a ZO7 build and you will be north of $150k.

What does $150k buy you NEW at the Ferrari dealer?

...a few t-shirts.

GM isn't trying to put the Mustang under it's thumb, or play big D HP games with the Dodge red eye cars in the 'Vette.  It's trying to compete in the big leagues.

The C8 makes 680 NA.  The comparable Ferrari F8 is 720 with twin turbos.

I agree, it's a lot of car at that price. A lot of guys are complaining on the Vette forums about the price and claiming they are going to pull out of the wait list due to the price. I estimated that the base price would be in the mid $90's, and wasn't far off, so I will keep my order in and hopefully move up the list when the others bail.

Another comparison to make is the cost to maintain the European mid engine cars to the Vette. The Vette's regular maintenance can easily be done DIY with average wrenching skills. I have heard that some of the exotic car manufacturers will void the warranty if a certified dealer doesn't perform the maintenance. Not sure if that's true, but GM has no restrictions on DIY as long as you keep good records.

We just did a 1600 mile road trip in the C8 and it was an awesome drive. The car in tour mode is very smooth for a sports car and the GT2 seats in ours are extremely comfortable. We plan on at least 2 or 3 more road trips this summer and look forward to it. It's an amazing car for the price.

I've got too many end of career goals right now to even consider one, we've got a 2017 torch red C7 in the garage that we never drive as it is lol. Even though we could sell it for more than we paid for it in this stupid crazy market we will keep it for that odd Sunday drive once in a while. Building the new house on the property we just bought takes the center stage, as well as owing zero money on everything we own. One of these days we may revisit another new vette but not today. They are bitchin for sure.

I just watched this video last night. As you said, great in-depth review.

I laughed when they are on the track and had the PTM (performance traction management) nannies turned off and were hanging the rear end out on exit and cracking up.

The reviews I've seen say the Z07 with the full aero package has a noticeable improvement in downforce compared to the base Z06.

Problem is, they only gave a handful of allocations out to the general public then announced that they are not giving anymore allocations until after the first of next year. The first of the initial allocations are just now rolling off the assembly line. It will probably take years to get one unless you want to pay ~$100k ADM.

With all the changes to the motor, I'd want to wait a year anyway.  You know, in an imaginary world where I'm actually buying one...

The LT6 FPC engines are all hand made with the builders name on plaque mounted on the engine. When customers place their orders, they have an option that allows the customer to help the builder build the engine going in their car. Cost $5k for that option, travel and lodging not included.
