2018 Silverado 2500HD, Low Coolant issue, quite the saga...

I know you are a big time Chevy guy. But I would take the Ram or Ford Gasser over Chevy by a large margin.

Rhe Chevy got its ass kicked on the Ike test
7.3 F250 is where it's at. And I'm a GM guy

Has the same 10 speed as the GM too.

I don't know what it is about Ford trucks, but I haven't ever liked them. Not against Ford...I love the mustangs.

It's just the trucks...there's something about them I just don't like.

:dunno:

@Bldrinker how's that thing do in fuel? I hear that motor sucks it up pretty good???

It’s thirsty As all hell. I have the 4:30’s so that makes it worse.
if you keep it at 70-75 on the flat you can almost get 14mpg

around town it’s 10mpg. Towing my little trailer it’s 9mpg.

luckily I only go to the office once a week.

They are coming out with a 6.8 baby Godzilla.

Forvhow you drive and what you tow go with 3:55 gears you will get about 2mpg better

I really liked my 6.4 Hemi but it has the 6 speed do getting my Toyhauler moving sucked. I put 4:88’s in it and it hated anything over 70mph. But pulled like a freight train.

It pulled the Bishop hill at 50mph with 13k behind it.

The new 8speeds will get 17mpg

Definitely gas.  New diesel makes crazy power, but the ECUs need so much processing power for all the emissions crap and injection events, I'm pretty sure the trucks are self-aware...

And yes.  People these days don't know how to work a problem down to a solution.  Hard to find the type of mind that thinks a problem through rather than follows diagnostic procedures through these days.  I blame the entire environment children are brought up in these days.  No ad-lib figure it out play, Legos have step by step instructions, parents hover nearby to make sure everything is done correctly, rote memorization is all they're good at (by and large).  We forgot how to raise adults...

Nice to hear some real numbers and you're not saying that you tow 48,000 lbs, single axle, pushing a line of big rigs up any hill as well, in snow with a head wind and getting 36 MPG!

:lmao:

You forgot my favorite, truck doesn't even know the trailer is back there,,,,

I would probably get an electric car. But ive never even been inside one. Just be perfect for 50 mile round trips. Instead of starting up the big diesel that holds 15quarts of cold oil.
My wife and I were in La Jolla last weekend. Took an uber from the bar we were at back to the hotel. It was a Tesla.

I'll tell ya the thing rode like SH*T. Every bump if felt like the thing was gonna fall apart...did not feel well built at all.

plus I had no room in the back seat.

We both are not fans of electric.

Now, Hybrid, I can get behind. New Camry Hybrid and Honda Accord Hybrid are both really nice and would be awesome for road trips, daily driver, grocery getter, etc...

Best of both worlds there. If I had a place to store my trailer, I would consider getting a Hybrid and just use my truck for towing, Home Depot (3 trips for every job... :lmao:  ) help the occasional "acquaintance" move...etc.   :laugh1:

Our STUPID Gubment should be leaning more towards hybrid solutions rather than cut off fossil fuels all together and tell everyone Electric is the WAY!

Eff That Eff Them!

I am still convinced the Prius might be the best Hybrid out there, these things just run.  I have a friend that has gone thru her Tesla, not she has the Porsche Electric, it has been in the dealer most of the time, no idea why, I don't ask.  I am not on the whole all electric vehicle either, I guess they are great if you are driving 50 miles a day or less, but why have a vehicle that can't get you on vacation??  I do have an electric golf cart that I really enjoy the quietness compared to a gas  :classic_biggrin:

We looked at the Honda Hybrid, but for the price we bought the Accord, real mileage is 35MPG, hard to go to Hybrid when you are only getting a bit better in mileage.

Picked the Jeep up yesterday (6 weeks and a day after I dropped it off!) and took it right back first thing this morning. They seriously butchered it up and the noise is still there!!!!!!! :angryfire:

I just ordered the new2023 prius w/awd-e. Not only has it become good looking but received a 75 horsepower upgrade. It appears Toyota has addressed everything that owners and critics didn't like. It should arrive in April.

On a different topic my wife just bought herself a new desk for our home office. Of course it comes in a million pieces and I had to put it together.

Before I even started she was reading the reviews saying the desk is great but was a nightmare to put together. Great! :simrak:

Comments were like the directions didn't make sense, the parts weren't' labeled, the bag of screws and hardware was a jumbled mess, blah blah blah.

So I open it up and before taking anything out, I read the directions about 4 times. Everything was spelled out, with Life size pics of what hardware needed to go where!

I was like, what is so hard about this???   :dunno:

Now I take the time to set out the pieces and put them where they need to go, set up a table with the parts bag, which by the way each screw/bolt size, clip, cam lock, etc...was in it's own sealed pouch within the large bag and each labeled.

Now it said 5-6 hrs with 2 people...took me about 8 by myself but it wasn't that difficult.

Back to the Lego days...I would build stuff for hours, by myself totally content. Follow the instructions and build cool crap. After that, it's tear it down and see what else I can make out of these parts!

:lmao:

I love to build stuff or dismantle and then rebuild.

My biggest issue is no quiet, clear space to do this uninterrupted.

I really need to work on my garage and more important back shed, its a whole room where I can do this type of stuff and be left alone.
