1964 Dodge A-100 Hot rod sort of rat rod build thread.

8 straight days and one more to go. Then I'm headed to the mountains. It has been wicked hot in the shop. Going a couple extra tenths looser on the guides with boost. Getting closer on the steering system. A little overkill on how heavy duty everything is but certainly won't have to worry about it. Might be able to turn the tires with the steering wheel tomorrow if I can get that front bracket for the lower v dog box built. And if my two couplers that I need come in.

Well this has been one of the hardest weeks of my life. We finally realized in today's climate and for multiple different reasons running our family business was no longer viable so we closed it. I have one hell of a job to clean up and for a while will be working on the truck only weekends. Then our general manager who was also an excellent tech in the back of the shop is going to come in and help me finish the truck. Hopefully him and I can blast it out. Steering is all done other than I need to paint everything. Maybe put a couple roll pins in that lower v dog box in case the bolts loosen up a little bit it can't twist back and forth. Going to be critical that never moves. I will have my buddy plasma cut out my dash panel probably out of 16 gauge steel and then weld it in.

I need a hole in the front of the dash to be able to install the steering from the front. He had an awesome idea to use the Chrysler pentstar. So I will have that cut out of steel probably 8 in thick. It will need to be two pieces to go on each side of the steering column. Then weld some studs and it will bolt up from the back side. I think I'm going to pick a nice blue and paint the whole interior.

This photo was blurry. So the Left 4 gauges will be oil pressure water temp volts and fuel. Right side will be boost fuel pressure and then I had to buy two trans temp gauges since they don't make a specific engine temperature gauge. But I wanted temp for both also the EFI tach I don't see a shift light anywhere and not sure if it has one. If not I'll need to add a light somewhere.

Hopefully a little bit of air comes through these defrosters. This is the same aluminum honeycomb material I used in the wheel wells in the back. This piece is ready to weld in the truck. Yesterday I got the stubs installed and measured for axles. Send those out back to G-Force tomorrow. He had asked if I wanted to assemble them and no thanks. Done enough of that on the sand rail over the years. I will let him put things together. Tuesday when my buddy gets back in town I can take my pattern out and have it plasma cut. See if I can get a bunch of welding done next weekend. Oh and I need to order some total seal rings in the morning. Get those here and then we can get going on starting to build this motor. We have a broker handling the sale of all of our machinery in the machine shop and I need to get this thing balanced for that machine is gone.
