Since this discussion was resurrected, Weddle is no longer producing a 9" twin disc clutch package. They were going to double in cost and the sales volume wasn't there anyways. It's a bummer because they were a great clutch.

Is your S4 brand new? Or purchased used? If used, it may have the older shift mechanism in it that causes the missed shifts. I would suggest upgrading to the new Gen 3 mechanism next time it needs to be serviced. You might also consider a changing gear ratio's to better suit your driving style.

What is "something"? There needs to be as little slop in the cable/linkage as possible. If there is anything loose in the shifter, cable, rod ends, etc. you are going to feel that when you preload the shifter.

I'm not sure, I've never measured that travel before. Taking a measurement from 1st to 2nd on your exiting trans would be sufficient.

That's a nice piece, but only meant for shaft rotation. The needle roller bearings aren't the best for in/out motion shaft motion. The Weddle carrier uses linear motion bearings to allow rotation and in/out shaft motion. They are actually the same bearings from the 091 nosecones.

Support should be mounted as close to the transaxle as possible to get the best support for the shift shaft coming out of the nosecone. Bushings the nosecone are easy to access once the nosecone is off the trans, but they are a real pain in the butt to replace without good tools to remove and...
