Bought my daughter a Chevy Volt.

50mpg around town, 30-40 out on the highway.

We did a road trip to Washington a couple summers ago. Stopped by Sand Point, Boise, Yosemite and Wenatchee as well.

Very quiet and Comfortable ride! 10x nicer than the Camery or TDI I've owned, and a shit ton nicer ride than any Honda I've been in!

I got her a 2014. The 2017 is the one to get, but any year will actually do.

Good luck finding one though. Most people hang on to em with both hands.

The down side?

It's definitely not the most stylish car, that's for damn sure! 😝

Nothing is worth making that drive on the 10 from Palm Desert to AZ. Stupid truckers and old people hog up the fast lane.

You know i got the cheapest maint best Mileage commuter going. Its like subaru but for gay dudes. 43mpg combined average driving like an ahole 50+ cruisin

I do that drive twice a month and why i have no respect or sympathy for 95 percent of truckers.Last night i had atleast 5 pull out to pass guy in front of them.Bad part was they saw me coming up single car no one behind and a 1/4 mile ahead they quickly start their pass and take about 3 miles to do so.And they werent on the rear of the truck in front of them either.

Usually on the az side its not a problem unless its and amazon trailer.But coming back to phx the new work on the grade just out of indio has helped but every once in a while you will get a trucker who has to pass and jumps into the fast lane still

Last year, I took my prius on an 8500 mile road trip. Best car I've owned. Cons are small inside, low to get in and out of. They are expensive but so is everything else. The AWD gives a touch more power from the rear electric motor and that car isn't real fast but it is quick.
I'm in a Rav4 hybrid now. Great rig. Step in and out, good power, and decent mileage. I might try a camry next. I haven't driven one of those yet. Prius mpg but more room and better ride.

I was looking at ES300Hs or Avalon Limited Hybrids as well.

Dude. The truckers in every lane on the freeway situation is insane these days. CHP is more interested in smog checks than it is in simple lane discipline. Every morning I come up on a traffic jam caused by a truck in the 1-3 lanes clogging up the freeway doing 55mph.
