EFF JURY DUTY

i was 2 weeks on a case. I was a substitute. crazy case involving fbi, texas rangers, osbi, kbi, and a ton other agencies.
it went to vote and i was done. the attorney for the plantiff caught me in the hall and said in the 40 years he practiced law, I was probably
the only juror they couldnt read lol.

I did it once, was on a case for 2 weeks. I got there at 8:00 am every morning, then sat in a hallway for at least 2-3 hours a day while the attorneys and Judge discussed stuff we weren't privvy to hear. 1.5 to 2 hour lunches. Dismissed early almost every day. Total disregard for the jury's time. Then cause the defendant was black and some of the jury was as well, I watched bad decisions being made due to racial issues. In the end we were shown the defendants record which included several house break ins with assaults, numerous drug issues, and a general super bad guy. They almost let this guy go because of a few black jurors refused to see past his skin color.
Never again, summons go in the trash. My time is too valuable for them to waste it. If your on the high horse about civic duties, they will let you go as much as you want, don't wait for a summons.

If I were ever on trial for something, I'd hope to have someone like @greasemonkey on the jury. I've had the chance to meet him in person, and he comes across as far more reasonable and grounded than the average California voter.

I had a friend (business owner) get sued by her employee.

It was TOTALLY obvious the employee was lying her ass off, and they had witnesses to prove it.

My friend lost anyway.

Idiot jurrors were more concerned about digging into deep pockets, than they were about the truth.

That being said...

Mine have always gone into the round file. I'm retired, and have Way better things to do with my time! 😁

Done. Served on a jury for a case about pain and suffering. Hard to put a price on either and we were pressed to do so with limited exposure to all the court documents. Just the witnesses. I guess that is the main objective in being a juror. Use the testimony and evidence provided during the trial, be unbiased and make a decision.

Well that all happened and I'm a better man for doing it. There's a winner and a loser most of the time. In this case it was a unanimous jury decision for a very difficult choice. I feel I played a role in that decision as I brought a different angle that everyone listened to and rather quickly agreed with.
We debated it for a while and still agreed.

I'll add to this if anyone's interested. Going to start my weekend here in a few minutes.

Cheers.

Thanks GM for seeing it my way....

My wife made this case WAY more than it should have been....how the judge let her case for pain and suffering keep going this long just because she has to live with me still baffles me.

PS guys if she asks if those pants make her look fat.....DON'T TELL THE TRUTH!

My wife is continually making her case worse in my "Pain and suffering" suit.

One day her alarm goes off and she goes to work. Making a ton of noise. Uh, I'm sleeping...
The next day it goes off WAY earlier and she goes to the gym, comes back and gets ready for work. Seriously lady? Turn the lights off.
Next day the "gym" alarm goes off. But since she took me out for tacos and margaritas the night before, I guess we get to hear her snooze it 5 times. Glad she was attentive driving us home.

I mean ladies, C'mon already!!

Oh, and what's for dinner?...
