Well the EPAS electric power steering unit is the most powerful unit on the market. But it simply does not have the power / torque to turn 10 inches of rubber and 1,000 lb on each corner in the front. The truck is drivable but just does not respond how I would like. So I talked to Jeff Howe this week and ordered up an entire package from him. Very smart guy and I am super excited to put a hydraulic system on this truck that hopefully will work at the level I want. This will be a pretty big project to do. Nothing like starting over.

Some pics from the rockabilly car show today. Boy did this truck ever fit in out there. Lots of rat rods. Truly humbling the response on this truck and how much people like it. Just amazing. Even driving around town. Drove my nephew in the truck this week and he called it a neck breaker. Because everyone breaks their neck to look at it. Pulled up to Costco the other day and five guys came over to look at it. Went to ice cream today and every time I look out the window someone's out taking photos of it. My dad would have liked this truck.

Well last Friday was exciting. The Wilwood brakes were squealing front and rear like a stuck pig. So they sent me the little rubber coated backing plates. Was able to pull the rears off without unbolting the wheels. Unbolted the front wheels without completely removing them and was able to get those done. Anyway was test driving the truck around the block with a little over 300 miles on the truck now. And some wiring burned up inside the cab and filled it full of smoke. I do a panic stop shut off the key and the main power to the whole truck. Ready to grab my fire extinguisher. Well like a dummy I had left the bolt out of the big main fuse block bulkhead plug. And somehow that had backed out and I don't remember exactly what Spencer said but created a short and burned one wire up. All fixed now. Built this shield so that hot air from the radiator can't hit the engine and circulate back up under and draw back through the radiator again. Yet to be seen if I will have to build another shield to direct air after it goes through the grill along the cradle and up into the radiator. The underdash vintage Air unit was new and purchased 5 years ago. Of course par for the course on this whole project the blower motor is not working on that new unit. And guaranteed vintage Air has had three updates since then. So we need to do a little more work on that. Also been working on my little blocks for transmission and engine oil temperature. Trans is installed and we need to weld three bungs into the engine oil block. Those temp gauges are both on the dash to monitor. Should have it back at 67th and Bell Saturday night.
